Chapter 35

The resumption of the classes was just around the corner. It was the last day of the vacation, and I had managed to improve my control to even greater heights. I had also found out my magic system wasn't as awesome as I had initially found. Sure, some of it was extremely amazing but the actual magic or the spellcasting part was actually worse than the magic used by the Wizarding World (WW).

I had found out about it after the morning of my magical maturity. I had woken up with a bunch of foreign knowledge in my mind and I deduced it to be the work of one of the black boxes in my soul that hadn't been able to 'read' the last time I had checked them. Now, I understood what my magic system was. It was like those mages' power system in the novels I had read in my previous life, with magic circles, tiers, spell models and whatnot. The magic power consumption was more efficient compared to the WW magic but not by much. The power was mostly the same. The variety was, of course, a lot more in my Mage system than the WW's one but intent based Pure Magic took care of that.

I really didn't think I would use my mage spells anytime soon as spell models and what-not weren't really my cup of tea. Though I suppose they were useful as a base of what magic could do because the higher tier magics were pretty damn amazing, especially time, space and elemental magic. The few things in which this magic system could be useful for me was in enchanting objects and broadening my horizons regarding magic. Magic might have no limits, but the same couldn't be said for my imagination.

Since my magic training could be more or less said to be complete, and I had already practiced my martial forms, I relaxedly took a walk through the castle for the day.

'Or not', I mused as my steps automatically took me to the forbidden corridor on the third floor. Hmm, should I finish off the Cerebrus so early?

Eh, what's the worst that could happen?

Thinking so, and laughing inwardly at the flag I had raised, I proceeded to open the door behind which lied the giant Cerebrus names Fluffy. Let's see what a Cereberus could provide me, shall we?

Thanks to my somewhat proficient use in 'pure' magic and my masterful control of my Magic Sense, I could rest assured that no wizened old wizard would come running when I started to mess around with his 'trial' for the golden boy. Dumbeldore had put wards around the area and I certainly didn't want him to snoop around while I was disintegrating a giant dog.

Under the plethora of spells and charms, along with a healthy dose of pure magic, it was almost impossible for anyone to find me. Wards were of course a risk but in the end they too were pieces of magic cast by wizards and so weren't omnipotent. A blast of pure magic heavily loaded with the intent to 'ignore' was all it took for the wards to stop being a nuisance.

Fluffy was apparently sleeping and I was both relieved and a little disappointed at that. I was hoping to test my physical prowess against a giant three headed dog but alas, it was not meant to be.

I curbed my Gryffindor instincts and proceeded to mercilessly fire the Integrator at the poor Cerebrus. In preparation for what was to come, I had already disconnected the nerves responsible for delivering me pain. The spell connected and Fluffy was no more. Thinking for a moment, I decided to go ahead and see the limits of my Integrator.

While opening the trapdoor, I accidentally caused it to fly off its hinges with a piece of it left in my hand. Shaking my head a little, I vanished the pieces. Reining in my strength, I thanked my foresight which had caused me to cast silencing wards and charms all over the place, helped along with pure magic. Jumping down the hole where the trapdoor used to be, I saw the Devil's Snare try and fail to wrap me around. Instead of using fire or light, I decided to fire the Integrator at it and to my surprise, I saw it bounced off the plant. Hmm, interesting.

What caused it to bounce? What was the criteria under which the Integrator operated? It couldn't be sentience or intelligence otherwise I couldn't have used it on the Time-Turner or the troll. Absently turning the plant to ash, I walked forward thinking of the mysteries of the Integrator.

I understood the process had ended when suddenly I could feel a similar sensation to what I had felt when I had created my second Mind, only instead of splitting, I felt like a parallel mind was being 'created'. Though I was bit baffled at there being only one single new mind, I think it was alright considering I would have had five parallel minds had three minds been created on top of my two.

I of course knew that 3 was an important number, magically speaking, and the next important number would be 7, so maybe because of that things happened like they did. Of course, this could mean that my 3 minds would be a bit more powerful considering it was a condensed version of a Cerebrus' mind (I still didn't know if they had three separate brains or one single brain and three different minds).

I reconnected my nerves and relished in the pleasure of having increased my physical attributes. I could feel my strength, vitality and speed had all improved, but I would have to start using Integrators on agile creatures soon or I will soon become a slow, lumbering beefcake.

I thanked Magic that the improved physical attributes I gained from using the Integrator didn't really reflect that much on my body, or I would be a 12 feet hulking mass of muscle of 11 years old. Sure, my muscle definition had increased and I was extremely fit and tall for my age but at least I wasn't like the Hulk or something.

I soon shifted my focus to the new parallel mind that I had gained thanks to the Cereberus and marveled at how well it meshed with my existing minds. I could feel the connection between my minds becoming stronger and smoother, and I was glad at having yet another mind at my disposal that I could count on researching magic or formulating plans.

Well, let's see if I could get the Philosopher's Stone from under Dumbledore's nose.

Sorry for such a long gap between chapters but I can't help it. So for at least a few weeks more things will stay the same, i.e. erratic updates.
