The end is near

"- the company led by McKenzie was forced to declare bankruptcy after 11 months of facing internal problems. The problem is not disclosed but, the rumors about how the company is full of corruption starting from tax evasion and bribery are widely spread and known to almost everyone."

"Aside from that, there's also claims that the C.E.O Mr. McKenzie is also facing criminal charges. This claim is not being verified yet, but his company are already losing the trust of investors -"

Right now, both Viollete and Alex are watching the news in silence while drinking juice. On this hot day, both of them look calm as they watch the news lazily. Sitting in the living room, cooled by the air-conditioner, both of them lean on the couch in leisure.

Viollete is the first person to break the relaxed atmosphere.

"This is the end of your mission," Viollete states in a calm manner as she takes a sip of her juice.

Alex paused before responding to Viollete. After a minute, a small smile appears on Alex's face. She looks down for a few seconds before looking in Viollete's direction. "Yeah, I just received the mission completion notice." Alex stares at Viollete's face for a few seconds before saying, "The graduation for third-year students is coming close too." Then, Alex pauses again as she is thinking of something. "I chose to stay in this world." Alex takes a slow deep breath as she looks at Viollete, who didn't look toward her at all since they began to talk. "What about you?"

This question has circulated around Alex's mind since she has spent a lot of time together with Viollete in this world. Being a transmigrator is not an easy task. The task could take a very long time and is hard to finish. When taskers finish their mission, many are forced to clear their memories. But, Most taskers will still read back on their past reports. Especially the one with a happy life or happy ending. Even when they will feel like the one who did the mission is not themselves. Because taskers don't have people to accompany them for their long lives aside from the system.

At least, that's what Alex understands as a tasker. Transmigrator led a lonely life.

That's why most taskers will cherish every relationship and friendship they get during their time in the mission world. Because, even if they know they will forget the memories later, at least they still know it's a happy life. Maybe, fate will bring them together again.

But, for the rest of the time Alex and Viollete have, she wishes that they can still be like this longer, together. Good meetings with good people, especially transmigrators, are rare. Maybe, just maybe, they might get to work together again.

So, Alex hopes that Viollete can stay in this world longer. But, Alex is bound to feel disappointed.

"I'm sorry," Viollete answered without hesitation. Despite that, she still looks at Alex with a guilty smile. "I need to return this body to the owner. I can't steal another person's life." Viollete explained simply.

"I understand." Alex smiled back. Of course, she knows what Viollete means. Unlike Viollete, Alex's task needs her to take over a body with no soul so, she is free to use this body however she wants. However, Viollete only borrows a body for a certain amount of time. Therefore, when the time when her mission is completed, Viollete will have to leave. Then, the original owner of the body will return.

"What are you guys talking about?" Suddenly, a voice appeared from behind them. This voice quickly breaks the sad atmosphere between Alex and Viollete.

"Eh, Alice! You're here." Alex's expression quickly changes when she looks at Alice. 'At least, she has someone to accompany her here.' She thought In her head. Alex gets up from the couch and gives Alice a light peck on the cheek.

Viollete rolls her eyes when she sees this scene for the millionth time. Her eyes still burn despite them having lived together with her for almost a year. She closes her eyes for a few seconds before focusing again on the news.

This time, the news is about Ford and Sullivan companies.

A smile quickly appears on Viollete's face, but she quickly hides it with her palm. The news is actually almost the same as the news about McKenzie's. But, it's not about bankruptcy.

Viollete and Alice actually chose the same type of revenge. Their revenge is to destroy what is the most important in their enemies' eyes. Alice destroyed her father's company until he couldn't rebuild it even if he wanted to. While Viollete chose to destroy Damian and Richard's wolf Ambition and their reputation. By destroying their reputation, It will be impossible for them to run away using their connection. It will be impossible to achieve their former glory too.

From the news, Viollete watches as Damian and Richard are being dragged by the police. Both of them has too much ego and, they couldn't accept their fate as a criminal. Viollete just looks at both of them, struggling to get away from the grasp of the police.

'Pathetic…' Viollete mocks both of them in her head. 'Honestly, it's so easy to deal with both of them." Viollete recalls the time when she intentionally creates a rift between the two of them. After that, Damian and Richard will get on each other's throats with little help from her. Which is a good thing for her.

First, Viollete will make Richard will abandon Damian in return for her to keep quites. But, Viollete is not the kind of person who will let criminals get away without punishment. After making it impossible for Damian and Richard to trust each other, she will let out news about their private life which creates more trouble for them.

Because Richard and Damian don't know who their enemy is, they won't know how to fight back. They can do nothing except for waiting for the day where all their reputation will crumble, and they will fall from their golden throne.

'Honestly, it was funny to see both prideful wolves turn into rabid dogs day by day.' Viollete chuckles before changing the channels to more lighthearted tones.

"To think you used to be his fiancee." It is Alex who breaks the silence first. She speak with a wide grin while looking at Alice. "You see, I'm better than him!"

Alice rolls her eyes before giving Alex a small peck on her cheek. "I know." And then she walk away, leaving Alex, who has a stupid smile stuck on her face.

"She is so cute!" Alex whispers while looking at Alice's back. "It feels like a dream to be able to get together with her!" When Alice disappears from our field of vision, Alex quickly looks at me with a smile. "Hey!" She called.

"What?" I turn to look back at the television. But, I still wait for her next word.

"Thanks… for everything!" She suddenly thanks me, which is not weird but, I can't help but sense something different.

"Why so sudden?" I chuckle while looking at her.

"I just feel like thanking you." She replies while leaning lazily on the couch before closing her eyes. Despite that, there's still a warm smile on her face. "I feel like, if there's no you, I won't be able to feel this kind of happiness." Then, Alex opens her eyes and looks at me. " So, I don't know why I just feel grateful to you!" Alex adds.

I smile back at her. But, at the same time I feel a pang of sympathy for her. I don't show it on my face, but I still let out a small sigh, but I cover it with a calm smile. I Pat her shoulder before letting out a small chuckle. "I'll accept your thanks!"

"Pff! shouldn't you reply with your welcome or no problem?" Alex smacks my hand away with a laugh. "You are such a narcissist!" she laughs so happily.

The way she smiles and laughs so happy makes me pray that she will stay like this even when I'm not here to help them. From the information I got from Alex's system and the ball, I know that both of them are under punishment.

'May both of you can live happily together till both souls fade away… ' I pray for them in my heart.
