Chapter 1

Life was genuinely epic. Here I was swaying to 'History' in the concert of One Direction. At first, I thought I was imagining things but as I saw Anna screaming out her lungs, I was relieved. My favourite band of all times was finally back after their hiatus of almost 4 years and they were rocking it once again. Zayn along with Louis was emptying bottles of water on Liam's head while he attempted to sing his part. Meanwhile, Harry was chasing Niall, who had somehow managed to smash a pie on his face, single-handedly. The crowd was bursting into laughter but to me it felt so unreal. That's when all the sound systems went haywire and started producing weird alarm sounds.

And so utter chaos started, everyone began running in whatever direction they felt was safe. I could feel constant vibrations but that wasn't any of my concerns during this chaotic moment. Well, it wasn't really until I noticed that the whole place was vibrating. I started scanning the arena for Anna but she was nowhere to be found, it was like the land had swallowed her. Just call her, you idiot, my brain chimed in. After a lot of tries, I was finally able to pull out my phone from the back pocket of my extremely tight jeans. That's when the actual wave of realisation hit me. My phone was the reason behind the weird alarm sounds, the vibrations. It was time to face my worst fears, time to get back to reality.

My eyes flew open. And well, they closed again due to the intensity of sunlight coming through the windows. My hands kept on searching for my phone in bed but didn't have any luck in finding it.

"KATNISS JANE BLAKE, could you be any louder? Shut your damn alarm before I smash it against your head!!!" My mom, Fiona Mason yelled even louder from the other side of the door. Obviously she couldn't hear herself or she would smash her mouth against her brainy head. Geez, you're insane, my conscience added.

"Shut up!" I said out way too loud and instantly regretted the words as soon as they left my mouth. The door creaked open so I assumed the angry bird had entered. The alarm also went off so judging by the facts, she had found my phone.

"You little brat, is that any way to talk to your mother?" The question hung up in the air for a while till I gathered up the courage to open up my eyes and well mostly to speak up.

"Sorry mom, it wasn't for you, it was for my conscience saying crazy stuff." I spoke, ruling out my bad side which wanted a whole argument. Taking a deep breath, I finally opened my eyes. A little gasp left my mouth when I saw her. She looked stunning. To be honest, she had always been the beautiful one; fair complexion, dark, silky brown waves on her head which for now had hazel highlights, light brown eyes, perfect straight-edged nose, an oval face paired with a lean yet curvy body. She really was the definition of drop dead gorgeous. Oh, and honey it's a shame that you're her daughter, my conscience had to ruin everything.

"Quit staring at me, it's weird," she commented while observing my messy room.

"Why are you all dressed up? Something special?" I blurted out.

"I was just feeling it, do you seem to have a problem?" Mom quickly replied and turned away.

"Is it because of dad? Cause if it is let me remind you, dad and his beloved wife won't be here till tomorrow. Try again tomorrow with your red dress, the one which is my favourite and and lose the eyelash extensions." I said looking into the blankness, imagining her in that outfit and makeup when it hit me that I might have hurt her feelings. So I quickly opened my mouth to apologise but the words never had the chance to even escape my vocal box.

"Haha very funny," Mom answered in her sarcastic tone as she turned to face me. I waited for her to speak again or scold me but she didn't. Instead she asked, "Do you think I'm better than her?" I raised my eyebrow at her questioningly. But I grasped who she was talking about about as soon as she said, "You know..."

"Hell yes! You're way above her in every aspect Mom." I urgently cut in to save her from being embarrassed in front of her sixteen year old. Not that I won't enjoy while she's at it but on this topic, even I couldn't bear it. No matter what she had done, she still happened to be my mother and truthfully, she deserved the world!

"Thankyou!" She replied with a small smile playing about her lips and finally turned to leave my room.

"Mom, I didn't mean it about the dressing up shit, I am sorry." My voice came out as a whisper.

"I know, you get your weird humour from your dad." She quietly replied and left my room, leaving the door open.

"ARGHHHHHHH!!! The door, Mom!!" I shouted behind her and I heard her giggling as she made her way downstairs. I fought the urge to smile but I couldn't help smiling like an idiot.
