Foreword + setting
Anyone who has read my other novels, or is familiar with Chinese fantasy settings, can feel free to skip this section. Anyone who is familiar with omegaverse settings can feel free to skip ahead as well.
The Basics:
-- Chinese names go: surname, given name. For example, Chu is the family name, Yun is the given name.
-- Single character first names (Yun, for example) can never be used on their own. Therefore Chu Yun will always be called using his full name, same for Xiao Zai.
-- This is fantasy and not an accurate portrayal of Ancient China (which is a very generic term to begin with, as China is one of the oldest countries in the world!) However, on the occasion that particular historical traditions come up, I'll clarify in author notes.
The Setting:
-- this is an omegaverse setting, which means that individuals are classified as alpha omega and beta.
-- Alphas experience rut and omegas experience heat (which in this novel will be called season of rain) which is a kind of biological impulse to mate. Alphas can impregnate omegas and female betas. Male omegas usually have a higher chance of becoming pregnant by alphas. Betas are no different than normal humans (in the biology aspect).
-- "Will this novel have mpreg?" I mean, Xiao Zai was born of an omega father, so it's there already ;D
-- "Yes but I mean between the CP? how will it work, they're both alphas!!!!" you'll have to read to find out ;3~~~~
-- The characters mostly stay in their human appearances, however they can switch into a mixed form with animal characteristics (tails and ears), and full animal forms if the situation allows it (courtly etiquette reasons mostly)
