Chapter Twenty Two

The servants placed and organized everything in the room for me. The maid even said that before leaving.

"Prince Noah told me to tell you that tomorrow morning maids will come here to take your measurements to make clothes that fit you well, but until it is all done, you can use these clothes for now." The maid said pointing to the clothes in the cabinet that they brought to me.

"Alright…" I said, still not believing what was happening.

"Oh, before I forget. Here, it is your keys, be careful to not lose them." She said giving me the keys.

"Thank you." I said after taking the keys.

The maid nodded and said. "Good night, then."

"Good night." I said.

The maid and the other servants left the room soon after, leaving me all by myself.

'What just happened?' I asked myself, in disbelief.

I walked through the room looking at all the things that I was just gifted by Prince Noah.

In the room, there was a small bookshelf, but it was empty before the servants placed the books Prince Noah gave me.

I picked some of them, just to realize that they were all children's books.

"Prince Noah do think that I am a little child, huh." I said to myself.

Well, in his defense, I kind of am a bit smaller for a child of my age.

'And ten years old kids usually still read children's books, I think.'

"He even gave me toys, though I don't even remember how to play with them anymore." I said to myself, holding a white teddy bear.

'Oh… It is pretty cozy.' I thought while hugging it.

"I think I will sleep hugging it tonight." I said placing the teddy bear on the bed.

Then I looked at the clothes in the cabinets just to confirm my thoughts. 'Yeah… As I thought these clothes are too fancy for a servant. They are definitely noble's clothes.'

Just then I noticed a white night-suit and picked it. "I will use this tonight."

'It has been some time already since I changed my clothes. I would love to take a bath as well.' I thought.

"Maybe…" I said, having an idea.

I rushed to the bathroom and turned on the bathtub faucet. Just as I thought, the water was warm.

Once I tried to take a bath in the bathroom of the room I slept in those days on the west side, but the water was too cold.

After waiting for the bathtub to fill, I went in.

"Oh… I really needed this." I said relieved, relaxing in the bathtub.

Though I was having a calm e relaxing time for the first time in so long, I couldn't stop questioning myself about why did Prince Noah do all this to me.

'Not just this room and the things he gave me, even this morning incident when he threatened all servants to find me, it was all because he thought that there were people harassing me. Why is he being so nice to me?'

I sighed. "...This brat isn't as bad as I thought he was. He still is an arrogant brat, though, but a kind one."

Saying that out loud sounded a little stupid, but that made me remember when Nicholas told me about Noah that day. He said that Noah is a hothead, but that he also had a soft side.

'That must be what Nicholas was talking about. Noah has a good heart, though he has also an awful personality.' I realized, and then I chuckled soon after.

"Prince Noah is really not that bad..."

I don't know how much time has passed, I just wake up and realized that I had fallen asleep in the bathtub. The water was cold, and also was my body.

I was trembling when I rushed out of the bathtub and got dressed, putting on the night-suit.

I quickly went to the bed, to under the covers, trying to warm myself.

"Wow… this bed is so comfortable."

I looked at the teddy bear by my side, that I had placed there earlier. I hugged it and said.

"I think I will call you Mister Snowball, just like the one I had in my past life. You kinda look like him." I said smiling.

It has been years since the last time I hugged a teddy bear like this. In this life, I don't even remember seeing a toy before today. I have never received any gifts before in this life after all.

I quickly sat on the bed when I realized that I had already received a gift before. It was from Nicholas.

"I forgot the book he gave me!"

I had left it on the northwest side. I sighed relieved when I remembered that I had hidden it in the library, not in my room. Because if I had left the book in my room, it would probably have been stolen by the maids already.

'I just hope that it is still there.' I thought.

I rested my head again on the pillows, but I couldn't fall asleep worrying about the book that Nicholas gave me.

"What if it is not there anymore? What if they stole it as well?" I asked myself, worried.

I stood up from the bed and said. "I will not rest before having this book on my hands."

I walked through the palace all the way back to the northwest area. I was already invisible, trying to not call attention from anyone.

'I can't believe that I am entering here on my own choice.' I thought while I was passing through the guards guarding the passage to the northwest area.

I went directly to the library when I entered there I was shocked to see that most of the books weren't there anymore.

'They stole everything?' I asked myself, surprised.

"No, no, no. It has to be here." I said, uneasy, looking for the book that Nicholas gave me.

I looked where I had left it, but the book wasn't there.

'It has to be here somewhere.' I thought, getting more anxious.

I started to look at every bookshelf using my magic to light the room so I could find my book. But I didn't find it.

"I can't believe that they stole it, the first gift I ever received since I reincarnated here." I said, sitting on the ground, tired of looking everywhere.

I rested my head on my arms and sighed. 'Just because I thought that today was my lucky day.'

But then, I noticed a book on the floor near me.

"Is that…?"

I picked the book and happily I confirmed that it was indeed the book Nicholas gave me.

"I found it!" I shouted relieved.

"Who is there?!" The library door was open, it was a woman holding a lamp.

It was Lena. She had an angry expression on her face, for a moment I even froze scared of her, but then I was relieved when I remembered that I was still invisible.

I quickly made my book invisible as well. And waited for her to leave, but she didn't. Lena entered the room and pointed the lamp through the room like she was trying to find something.

"Tsk." She clicked her tongue and left the room when she noticed that there was nothing here.

I sighed, relieved. "For a moment I really thought she would find me."

'But maybe she was indeed looking for me.' I realized.

"It is pretty late at night, why would she still be awake and be walking through here looking for something?" I asked myself, whispering.

Then I remembered what that mysterious nobleman said to her. That if she didn't find me in three days he would kill her.

'She had dark circles under her eyes, she probably didn't sleep at all since then.' I realized.

I kept standing in the middle of the library having a dilemma. "Should I help her?"

I couldn't give myself reasons to help Lena. I hate her, she is an awful person.

I sighed.

'But she is still a person, I can't let her die knowing that I could do something to help her.'

"That is it." I said leaving the library.

It didn't take much time for me to find Lena. She was in the middle of a corridor, probably going back to her room.

"Were you looking for me, Lena?" I asked, turning myself visible again.

Lena froze for a moment, then she looked back at me, surprised. "A-Alexander?"

I didn't say anything, I just kept staring at her.

Like she just realized that it wasn't a dream, she rushed at me with a furious expression. "Where were you?! All this time I've been looking for you!"

She angrily tried to grab my arm, but I dodge.

"Don't touch me." I said, looking directly into her eyes, serious.

Lena looked at me like a madwoman. "Don't talk to me like that!"

She dropped the lamp on the floor and rushed at me, grabbing my both arms with her hands, she even dug her nails into my arms.

In a split of seconds, Lena was on the floor, fallen a few meters away from me. I threw her away with my magic.

"I told you to not touch me."
