There is a room behind the staircase and it is not locked like some other storage rooms in the house.

And it's only a dark straight hallway with a few paintings on the walls. The paintings look like a piece of revival art, with depictions of religious pieces of work and some just being the portraits of different people who are weirdly looking straight at you in a wide dim hallway.

Not very comfortable.

"Where's this?" My voice echoes lightly into the disappearing end of the dim path.

"The passageway. it connects to the kitchen from here." Elian explains, adjusting the lamp in one corner. The light changes angles, lighting the path in a better form but it is yet still dim.

"Oh", I mumble, tracing a finger on one of the paintings. "That makes sense"

Surprisingly not at all dusty.

"The paintings were there even before I could remember." Elian explains, his voice coming right behind me. I jump, looking backward.
