First Captains of the Gotei 13
- Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto - 1st Division
--> Yamamoto had black hair on the sides of his head and was bald on top. He had a tuft of hair sticking up at the back of his head in a topknot. He had thick but more manageable eyebrows and a moustache with no beard. He had a single large scar on his forehead, which earned him the nickname "Eijisai" due to its shape. He had a prominent crease on his forehead and beneath his eyes, and shallow cheeks. He wore the typical Shinigami outfit, with the addition of a sleeveless captain's haori worn appropriately
- Chika Shihōin - 2nd Division
--> Chika was a youthful man with olive skin and golden eyes. He had shaggy white hair with bangs covering his forehead, and in addition to the standard captain's haori over a shihakushō, Chika wore golden earrings shaped like long and thin rectangles, a gold-trimmed orange scarf patterned with spirals and waves around his neck, a gold-trimmed orange waistband, and orange strips of fabric on the undersides of his sandals
- Hakuda expert:
During the Lichtreich's invasion of the Seireitei, Chika demonstrated great proficiency in Hakuda by relying solely on it when dispatching enemy soldiers with brutal kicks
- Kinroku Izuhara - 3rd Division
--> Kinroku was a fair-skinned man with a sharp nose, a thin mouth, prominent cheekbones, a pronounced jawline, and thin eyebrows, as well as short grey hair parted to the right side. He wore narrow spectacles with yellow lenses and the standard captain's haori over a shihakushō, which was fastened at his midsection with a thick green waistband
- Chigiri Shijima - 4th Division
--> Chigiri was a pale-skinned man with grey hair, which he let fall over and on either side of his face in several long bangs, though he otherwise kept it tied up in a ponytail that reached his lower back. He wore a standard captain's haori over a shihakushō
- Danjirō Obana - 5th Division
--> Danjirō was a tall, fair-skinned man with brown eyes, thick eyebrows, and wavy, shaggy light-brown hair that was tied in a short ponytail at the back and formed sideburns below his ears. In addition to the standard captain's haori over a shihakushō, he wore gold-trimmed blue gauntlets tied around his forearms with red string and a blue breastplate underneath the shihakushō
- Furōfushi Saitō - 6th Division
--> Saitō resembled a young, fair-skinned woman with large violet eyes, the left of which was covered by a black eyepatch fixed to her head by two straps encircling it in an X-formation. She had long, dark pink hair tied up in two hip-length pigtails on either side of her head, leaving a section of bangs to fall over the right side of her face, and wore a white strip of cloth around her temples in addition to the standard captain's haori over a shihakushō
- Nobutsuna Shigyō - 7th Division
--> Nobutsuna was a tall, lanky, and pale man with visibly sunken skin on his face and chest, particularly around his grey eyes. He had a pointy black moustache that extended a couple of inches out from his face on either side but was shaven in the middle, as well as a long black goatee covering the centre of his chin, and spiky black hair that was largely covered by black fabric he kept wrapped around his temples and forehead, the sides of his face, and the underside of his jaw. In addition to the standard captain's haori over a shihakushō, Nobutsuna also wore a dark brown fur stoat around his neck and over his shoulders, as well as black gloves which stopped at his darkened and pockmarked wrists
- Batsu'unsai Katori - 8th Division
--> Katori was a petite woman with pale skin, large eyes, thin eyebrows, and large breasts. She had black hair arranged into large bangs and a hip-length segmented ponytail tied up with red ribbon and wore large, thin-rimmed glasses in addition to the standard captain's haori over a shihakushō, as well as red sandals
Zanpakuto:
- The name, sealed form, and abilities of Katori's Zanpakutō are unknown, as is its Shikai command, but its scabbard is golden.
- Shikai: Katori's Shikai takes the form of a long naginata, or spear, with a white double-edged blade, a golden shaft ridged at both ends with a rubber grip-like texture and a large golden tassel tied in a three-loop knot at the opposite end of the blade.
- Entetsu Kumoi - 9th Division
--> Entetsu was a large, bald, olive-skinned man with no lips covering his golden teeth. He had a wavy scar running a few inches up from his left eye and wore round, thick glasses that obscured his eyes, as well as the standard captain's haori over a shihakushō that revealed sections of scars on his upper chest
- Furuoki Ōtogawa - 10th Division
--> Furuoki was a tall and thin man with fair skin, thin eyebrows, and long black hair that he wore in chest-length bangs. In addition to the standard captain's haori over a shihakushō, Furuoki sometimes wore a straw rice hat with red-pink ribbon adorning the edge, crossing over in an X in the centre, and hanging from the sides near his ears, as well as teal gloves with light brown palms. He occasionally carried around a book with a teal cover as well.
- Retsu Unohana - 11th Division
--> At the start of the story she is called Yachiru, but we all know that.
- Uhin Zenjōji - 12th Division
--> Zenjōji was a large and corpulent man with fair skin, small grey eyes, and a large mouth. His hair was shaved down the middle of his head, with the remaining section on either side being cut short aside from a long and thin braid that hung out from the back, and his face was emblazoned with a long, thick, U-shaped red mark running from the base of one section of hair around and under his face to the base of the other section. Underneath the standard captain's haori and shihakushō, Zenjōji also wore a grey suit tied together at the front with string and a teal-gray apron with golden trim near the edges and a large, curving red line running across it in an upside-down U
- Saizō Sakahone - 13th Division
--> Sakahone was an old, bald, and gaunt man with tanned and wrinkly skin, sunken eyes, a prominent nose, and a hunched back. He wore the standard captain's haori over a shihakushō
