Unexpected Marriage Proposal

Jin and Tae walked into their home to find Mr. Park Eun-Seok, their business partner, sitting with his daughter Rose and their aunt Lee Ji-ah, accompanied by their cousin Lee Min-Ho. Mrs. Kim welcomed them and introduced Jin and Tae. They greeted everyone.

Mr. Kim spoke up, "The kids are finally here. Come son, have a seat."

Jin asked Mr. Park, "Hello, how are you doing?"

"I am doing great son. Hope you too are doing well," replied Mr. Park.

Mrs. Kim then introduced Jin to Rose, Mr. Park's daughter, saying that they had come for an important discussion. Jin and Tae were shocked and couldn't react in front of everyone.

Mrs. Lee, Mrs. Kim's younger sister, asked, "Really, why, what's so right about this time?"

Mrs. Kim replied, "We are announcing Jin's marriage with Rose."

Jin and Tae were speechless. Jin looked at his father with an astonished expression, while his father stood helpless. Tears formed in Jin's eyes, but he tried to control them.

Mrs. Lee said, "That's amazing news Unnie. Congratulations Jin baby & Rose."

Mrs. Kim added, "The wedding is after six months. Rose has her college exams in the next three months, and even other kids of our family also have exams. We wanted the marriage after their exams so they can enjoy the wedding without any stress. Jin is going to the US in December after his birthday for a year. That's why we want him to complete his work here and focus on expanding our business there."

Mr. Park agreed, "I think that sounds good. Then it's decided, we will get Jin and Rose married after six months. It will be a grand wedding, and we will need at least a month for the preparation."

After some time, Mr. Park and Rose left from the Kim Mansion along with Mrs. Lee and her son.

Tae was angry and spoke up, "Mom, what is this? You didn't even discuss this with us. You should have first spoken to Jin Hyung before fixing the marriage."

Mr. Kim scolded Tae, "Tae, this is not the way you talk to your mother. Say sorry right now."

Tae apologized and left for his room.

Jin was still sitting and listening to all the conversations going on between his family.

Mr. Kim asked Jin, "What happened? You don't have anything to say to your mother?"

Jin looked up at his dad and tears rolled down from his eyes to his cheeks. He wiped his tears and went to his mother.

Jin asked his mother, "Is your happiness in me getting married to Rose?"

Mrs. Kim nodded her head in yes.

Jin replied, "If your happiness is in this, then I'll do it. Nothing is more important to me than my family's happiness."

Saying this, Jin left for his room.

Hobi, Namjoon, Suga, and Jimin anxiously waited for Mr. and Mrs. Jung to return home. Namjoon was particularly worried as he didn't know what had happened at Jin's house and why his parents had called them back home.

"Where is mom and dad? Why did they call us home? I don't know what happened at Jin's house," Namjoon said, looking around the room.

"Calm down, Joona. Don't stress yourself out. Once they arrive, you will find out," Suga tried to console him.

"I can't calm down, hyung. I'm just getting scared at the thought of losing Jin. What if Rhea aunt doesn't agree to our marriage? How will I live my life without him?" Namjoon's anxiety was evident.

Suga tried to reason with him. "I understand your worries, but getting worried and stressed will not solve any problem. Right?"

Unbeknownst to them, Mr. and Mrs. Jung had arrived and were listening to their conversation. They greeted everyone and sat on the sofa.

Hobi immediately got up and said, "I'll ask the maid to bring water for both of you."

Namjoon didn't waste any time and asked his mother, "Mom, I'm worried. Please tell me what happened at Kim Mansion? What did Rhea aunt say? Did she agree to our marriage?"

"Son, hold on and take a deep breath. We will tell you everything, but we want you to be strong," Mr. Jung said, trying to prepare his son for the news.

Mrs. Jung continued, "I'm sorry son, but we were not able to convince Mrs. Kim. She didn't agree to your and Jin's marriage. We tried very hard, but we didn't succeed."

Tears started forming in Namjoon's eyes upon hearing this news, but he tried to control them. He looked at his father and asked, "What do we do now, dad?"

Mr. Jung replied, "Joona, I know this will take time, but you should move on because Jin is getting married in six months."

Everyone in the room was shocked and looked at Namjoon. Upon hearing what his father said, Namjoon couldn't control his tears and began crying. Everyone in the room was saddened by the news, and no one spoke for a while. After a few minutes, Namjoon left for his room, and Jimin and Suga also left for their respective homes.

Namjoon entered his room and sat on his bed, feeling numb. His phone rang, and he saw Jin's name flashing on the screen. He answered the call, and for a few seconds, there was only silence on the line.

Jin's voice broke the silence, "Joona, I'm sorry. I couldn't change my mother's decision. I'm sorry I can't be your boyfriend anymore."

Namjoon's heart shattered into a million pieces upon hearing those words. "Hyung, please don't say that. You know I can't live without you. I can't move on," he said, trying to hold back his tears.

Jin's voice was heavy with emotion. "Joona, you know we can't go against our parents. I know it hurts a lot, but we have to move on with each other because..."

"Because you're getting married," Namjoon finished the sentence, feeling a lump form in his throat.

"Yes," Jin replied, his voice barely above a whisper.

Namjoon couldn't hold back his tears anymore. He sobbed on the phone, "Hyung, I can't see you with anyone else."

Jin's voice was choked with tears, "Baby, I know. Even I can't give your place to anyone in my heart. You and only you will be there in my heart forever. I can't go against my mom, can't do anything that will hurt her, but this marriage is nothing more than a compromise to me."

Namjoon listened to Jin's words and felt a wave of sadness wash over him. He knew that Jin was in pain too. "It's late Hyung, you should rest now," Namjoon said softly.

Jin agreed, "It was a long day, and it will be a long night and a difficult one for both of us. After this night is gone, we will not be boyfriends, so let's be good friends, as we always have been to each other."

Namjoon could feel the pain in Jin's voice, and he couldn't bear it. "Saranghae Jin Hyung," he said, feeling like it would be the last time he could say those words.

Jin replied, "Saranghae Joona," before hanging up the phone.

Namjoon lay in bed, unable to sleep, as thoughts of Jin filled his mind. He missed Jin, his touch, his kisses, his laughter, and his presence. Namjoon knew that he had to accept the reality that Jin was going to marry someone else, but it was hard to imagine his life without him.
