The first flight across the Atlantic Ocean
In the early morning of July 13, 1919, the British airship R - 34 completed its first round-trip flight across the Atlantic Ocean. The airship took off at 1:48 a.m. on July 2nd from Athens, Scottish, and arrived at Mineola, Long Island. It then returned to England and arrived at its base in Pulheim in the early hours of July 13th. It did not land during both voyages. In 1927, American pilot John William Elcock and his navigator Arthur Brown, under the sponsorship of London's Daily Mail, took the risk of flying a twin-engine " Wicker-Weimy " biplane. They successfully completed the feat of humans flying across the Atlantic for the first time.
