Neither Saint Nor Sinner
In the Kingdom of Arvalis, justice wears a crown and cruelty wears armor. Merit is a word used to describe what the powerful deserve and deny to everyone else. Daima Ryuji, son of a slum blacksmith, orphaned at nine, denied at every door. He spent his whole life believing that if he was good enough, skilled enough, patient enough, the system would eventually let him in.
He was wrong. The system was never going to let him in. The system was built to keep him out, built on forty years of organized corruption, a secret network of noble families called the Obsidian Accord, and two centuries of soul-energy harvested from the living to sustain the throne's power. His father found out. His father was killed for it. And the ledger that named the killers has been sitting, waiting, for someone angry enough and careful enough to find it and use it.
Ryuji finds it at nineteen. He distributes the evidence before they can stop him. He is arrested, imprisoned in Winterhold Dungeon, and left there to be managed. Instead, he awakens the forbidden ability his bloodline was always carrying, Soulfract Dominion, the power to read and fracture the emotional core of anyone he touches, and walks out forty-three days later changed in ways the kingdom has no category for.
What follows is not a hero's journey. It is the story of what happens when a person the world tried to destroy discovers they are precisely strong enough to return the favor, and then has to decide, at every step, what kind of person they want to be while doing it.
He is neither the saint the kingdom refused to recognize nor the sinner it tried to create. He is the space between, and the space between is where kingdoms fall.
