Fish-eye lenses and ultra-wide lenses had their own advantages and disadvantages in feature films. The fisheye lens had a very wide angle of view, often up to 220° or 230°. It could provide a unique visual effect and capture a very wide scene. It was very useful in some feature films that required special visual effects, showing the full picture of a large scene, or creative shooting. For example, when shooting some grand natural landscape or large-scale event scenes, it could emphasize the grandeur and uniqueness of the scene. However, the fisheye lens had the problem of image distortion. Although some fisheye lenses could control the distortion to a certain extent, the parallel and vertical scenes outside the central part were often distorted, which might not be suitable for some feature films that needed to accurately represent the shape and spatial relationship of objects. Ultra-wide lenses, such as the Sima 12 - 24mm F4.5 - 5.6 II DG HSM (the widest non-fisheye lens under the 135 frame size), although the angle of view was not as extreme as the fisheye lens, it was relatively wide, and the image distortion was relatively small. It could more accurately display the shape and spatial relationship of objects in the scene. If the feature film focused more on realism and accurately expressed the various elements in the scene, or if it required more complicated picture composition and higher requirements for shape accuracy, the ultra-wide lens might be a better choice. Therefore, the choice of fisheye lens or super wide lens for a feature film depended on the theme, style, and visual effects of the feature film. Read more exciting novels for free
