There were several reasons why Dragon Ball comic books were valuable: First of all, Akira Toriyama's death had boosted the sales of Dragon Ball. Many people bought the entire comic collection in memory of the author, which increased the market demand and thus the price. Secondly, Dragon Ball itself was extremely influential and had a large number of fans around the world. It had sold 160 million copies in Japan and more than 260 million copies outside Japan, adding up to more than 420 million copies (not including pirated copies). Its associated market size was estimated to be around 500 billion yen (about 24.3 billion yuan), reflecting its popularity and potential collection value. Furthermore, the 42 volumes of Dragon Ball were combined into a set, and the entire set of comic books were arranged in order to form a complete painting. This unique design was very attractive to senior fans and comic collectors, increasing the collection value of the entire set of comic books. In addition, different versions also affected the value. For example, the version published by Taiwan's Dongli was considered to be the better version at the moment. A good version was often more sought after by collectors, thus increasing its value.

Well, factors like the popularity of the comic series, the character featured on the card, and its limited print run can make some comic cards highly valuable. Also, cards signed by the creator or related celebrities can increase their worth.
