CICADA
Every seventeen years, the cicadas emerge from the earth. They sing. They die. They are forgotten until the next cycle begins.
In 1978, sixteen-year-old Yuki Takahashi disappeared during the emergence. Her friend Shinji left early. He has spent seventeen years believing his departure caused her death.
In 1995, the cicadas return. So does Shinji, now a journalist, drawn by a letter from someone who knows what he did—and what he failed to do. The sender is Rin Takahashi, Yuki's younger sister, who was seven years old the night her sister vanished. She held the flashlight while her father bound Yuki's wrists. She has spent twenty-five years preparing for this emergence.
Together, they will uncover a network of protected crimes, preserved rooms, and silences that outlast memory. But exposure demands its own price. The truth does not set you free. It only makes the silence different—not empty, but full of what was spoken.
