Between the Stacks
Morgana Vale has spent three years perfecting the art of invisibility, top of her class, always in the library, never anywhere she might be noticed. That changes the night she catches campus legend Lucius Bloodrose feeding on a girl between the stacks, blood still fresh on his lips when he looks up and smiles like he's been caught doing nothing worse than skipping class.
He tries to erase her memory. It doesn't take. Instead, their blood reacts, an accidental bond neither of them chose, tying their lives together in ways neither fully understands. Within days, Morgana is fighting cravings she can't explain, dreaming in flashes of his memories, and drawn to him with a pull she resents every time she gives in to it.
To keep the bond from destabilizing, Lucius moves her into Bloodrose Manor, ancestral home of a dying vampire line with far more enemies than friends. There, Morgana discovers that the world she's stumbled into runs on rules crueler than anything she imagined: bonded mates aren't partners, they're resources. Lucius's brother Damian is counting down to a ritual called the Revival, one that requires draining a bonded mate completely to resurrect their long dead mother. Morgana is the mate. She is, quite literally, the sacrifice.
Lucius swears he won't let it happen. Morgana isn't sure she can trust him to keep that promise not when she learns every one of his past bonds ended the same way hers is meant to. Desperate and out of options, she strikes a secret deal with Seraphine, heir to the rival Ashgrave family, trading information for protection. But Seraphine's help comes with hidden teeth of its own.
As Damian accelerates the ritual and the manor's secrets start clawing their way to the surface, Morgana and Lucius are forced to decide what the bond between them actually means a curse to be broken, or something worth fighting to keep. When the truth comes out, that Lucius's mother isn't dead but imprisoned, her life siphoned to fuel the family's power for generations, the fragile alliance between brothers collapses entirely, and Morgana finds herself the last thing standing between a vampire house tearing itself apart.
In the wreckage of the Bloodrose estate, Morgana makes the choice no one asked her to make: she completes the bond herself, saving Lucius's life at the cost of her own humanity. What follows is a war fought not for survival alone, but for the right to choose their own future free of rituals, resources, and blood debts owed to the dead.
Between the Stacks is a fast-moving dark romance about the girl who never broke the rules and the boy who never followed any forced together by an accident of blood, and changed forever by what they chose to become for each other. It begins in a library, in silence and secrets. It ends there too, but nothing about them is quiet anymore.
