Falling For My Artistic Director
Day 1 — Smile and wave at him when he comes to the auditorium.
Day 2 — Say hi or hello when you see him outside of rehearsal. No stuttering, Amelia
Day 3 — Compliment something he’s wearing—and pretend it wasn’t rehearsed.
Day 4 — Ask if he’s seen a popular movie or show.
Day 5 — Ask him for a favor or borrow his pen.
Day 6 — …What should Day 6 even be?
Oh my god, I’m so nervous. This is crazy.
I’m actually planning how to talk to Ezekiel.
Yup, I must be insane. I shook my head.
But who cares though? YOLO!!
*******
Oh—hi there. That’s me.
Professional overthinker. Amateur in everything else. Hehe.
Sometimes I love taking stupid… uhm, risks. You know, for the plot, if you know what I mean.
You’re probably wondering what all that “Day 1” stuff was about, right?
Well… our paths crossed again.
Well—mine and uhm, my artistic director’s… or should I say ours?
No, that sounds weird because he isn’t yours and you’re not currently—
ugh, Amelia, you’re going off course again!
Sorry about that, I tend to wander off sometimes.
******
Where were we?
Ah, yes.
Our paths crossed again in my second year, during the second semester, while working on a performance course called THA208.
After my first year in this big (and not-so-expensive) state school, he came to help my group out because my co-director asked him for help.
He even cancelled his trip to another country… for us.
So charming and uhm, cute and so—
Amelia!!! Behave.
Sorry, again. I promise to continue this… uhm, synopsis?
Right, author?? Is that what it’s called?
Am I even a theatre student?? [laughs]
What am I even doing—
*******
Back to our main subject.
The man with the calm voice, terrifying authority during rehearsals, and that frustrating smile that makes my brain buffer.
I forgot to mention—he’s a CEO.
He practically owns a production company, a post-production house, and some creative agency or whatever.
Blah blah blah.
Yeah, he’s very… productive in his life.
Ezekiel Green.
That’s his name.
And me? Well… I’ll hand that part to you, Miss Author.
****************
Amelia Campbell is a second-year Theatre and Film Arts student at Valley View University. She’s the quiet girl in the rehearsal hall — the one who forgets her lines but never forgets how Ezekiel Green’s voice sounds when he says her name.
Ezekiel is everything she’s not: confident, brilliant, and terrifyingly composed. He’s also her former induction director, a CEO of multiple creative companies, and the man she’s been secretly crushing on since freshman year.
When he returns to campus to help her struggling group with a major performance project, Amelia’s world flips. What started as admiration becomes something deeper — something she’s not sure she’s ready for.
Will she find the courage to step out of the wings and into the spotlight of her own story? Or will her feelings remain a silent monologue?
Would their age difference come between them?

Let’s find out as we go into Amelia’s story together.
Grab your popcorn, because this ship is about to turn into a circus of crazy storms and unexpected rides.
