Superhero fighting, super villains

Daniel was hiking in the Appalachian Mountains for the summer and found this staircase with a red door at the bottom. Curiosity won his better judgement and he opened the door to step in. It was a portal that took him to the future. The future is full of new technology that appears to be real. It has become a necessity to be surrounded by robots to do your basic daily activities like breathing. People would travel on a flying plate that was made of nano technology. They either sat, stood or pretended to walk, but they all had one thing in common, they had thin floating screens or virtual reality glasses on. Either way, they weren't paying attention beyond their screen. David realized that people stopped thinking for themselves. There was always an AI that suggested things, if the user didn't agree, the AI would explain why the suggestion was the best option. Therefore making the user agree. It's almost as if they are zombies. The city was clean and there were no signs of homeless people anywhere. People were open to leaving if they wanted, but reminded that the respiratory support they received would be taken away. There was no technology powered by the central power plant which was a large crystal. It seemed like the city took care of itself and people were content. Daniel was almost grateful to arrive, until he discovered the city rules: Believe only what’s in front of you Don’t talk about religion Only say what the majority wants to hear As he investigates why those rules were the only ones to follow he finds the dark secret behind them. There are creatures lurking in the darkness, waiting to devour anyone who breaks their rules. Daniel finds out that these creatures were highly intelligent beings that have always existed. They had influenced culture each generation behind the scenes. When they came out into society, they were welcomed. He found out that these beings lived beyond the ice walls, in deep underground caves or disguised in plain sight before they emerged. World War three happened which decreased the population. It is now known that they orchestrated it to ‘“thin the herd.”Then World War 4 happened which was designed to remove rebellious thinkers. Those that were driven by righteousness. This was planned so that these beings took full control. Daniel finds out that there's a secret society that communicates only through writing notes to each other on toilet paper so that the message is received and then destroyed. They are the ones who have a different walk pretending to be zombies. Daniel discovered their plan to blow up the power plants that kept the others distracted from seeing the world beyond the gate to free them. This would trigger a complete reset without technology. Does Daniel join or prevent it?
