Tales of the Zodiac - Book 8: Libra
After the center island releases them, ten divine powers arrive on the broken land of Libra Island, a place wounded not by emptiness, but by imbalance. Rivers lean too far into valleys. Mountains hold their weight incorrectly. Forests grow without measure. The island is alive, but nothing rests where it belongs.
To heal it, the gods do not conquer. They restore.
Makeda, the radiant Queen of Sheba, raises the first golden courts and teaches the people sacred law, royal wisdom, beauty, and fair judgment. Under her light, civilization learns how to stand with dignity.
Astar follows beneath the moon, shaping quiet pools, dream gardens, and night temples where hidden grief can be sung instead of buried. Waaq opens the sky and gives the people sacred speech, wind roads, weather signs, and the responsibility of carrying truth without twisting it. Atete fills the land with flowers, honey, fertility rites, women’s ceremonies, and the tenderness that holds families together.
Mahrem brings guardian fire, not war, teaching courage, restraint, and protection without cruelty. Amlak descends with blessing and abundance, building high temples, feast fields, and sacred generosity. Medr settles the soil into duty, patience, farming, boundary stones, and the deep wisdom of work. Debtera opens the hidden world of sacred writing, coded prayer, healing words, and knowledge kept between smoke and ink.
Along the coast, Beher calls the waters back, creating a domain of mist, memory, cleansing, and spiritual song. Last comes Zar, keeper of the unseen, whose drums, trance rites, spirit rooms, and shadowed wisdom give Libra Island a place for every hidden thing the daylight cannot carry.
Across seventy chapters, each god creates a domain, the people settle into worship, and daily life becomes sacred. The island slowly transforms into a civilization of balance: courts and moon pools, sky roads and flower gardens, red gates and blessing fields, stone terraces, scroll caves, sea temples, and spirit houses.
But beneath the beauty, a quiet mystery grows.
As each domain reaches its fullness after one hundred years, the gods begin to notice the same impossible silence. The land is fertile. The animals multiply. The temples are alive. The people are healthy.
Yet the future has stopped arriving.
Libra Island has been restored, but something deeper is waiting to be weighed.
And when the island finally becomes balanced, the scale will move.
