Godzilla was a monster in the movie Godzilla. Its name first appeared in the novel of the same name by the Japanese popular novelist Shigeru Xiangshan. It first appeared in the movie Godzilla in 1954. It was a Japanese national treasure monster. In terms of origins, different versions of Godzilla had different origins. For example, the legendary Godzilla of the Monster Universe belonged to the ancient Titan behemoth. The first form of the new Godzilla was an ancient creature mutated by nuclear radiation. No one knew the exact origin of Godzilla- 1.0. There were only related myths and legends on Otsuka Island, speculating that it had existed during the dinosaur era. Godzilla- 1.0 had two forms. The initial form was 15 meters tall when it came ashore in 1945. Its appearance and posture were similar to dinosaurs. It stood on both feet and had relatively small hind legs. It had a big head, a bloated neck, and a cluster of dorsal fins on its back. Although it was not strong, human firepower could not hurt it. It still had extremely strong armor and destructive power. In July 1946, affected by the nuclear shock wave of Bikini Atoll, it completed its mutation and evolution into a complete body. It was 50.1 meters tall, no longer hunched when standing straight, had a larger back fin, and a smaller head compared to its huge body. Its mouth was similar to a platypus, and its hind legs were stronger and thicker. In terms of Godzilla's abilities, Godzilla 1.0's heat-ray trigger mode was similar to the legendary Godzilla's. It was charged from the tail, and after the back fin was extended, it was pressed down to complete the charging. The ray was shot out from the mouth, and the surrounding blue flames produced high temperature and impact. The ray attack range was more than 6 kilometers, and it spread outward in a circular shape. However, it could not be used continuously. It needed a few minutes after each use. When used, the high temperature would burn the upper body armor. Its armor and comprehensive defense ability were weaker than the legendary Godzilla. The shock wave of a nuclear bomb and the explosion of ordinary ammunition could injure it, but it had self-recovery ability. When the pressure in the deep sea changed to an extreme degree, it would be seriously affected, but its self-recovery ability was still its strength. Godzilla's image had evolved at different times. At first, he was a violent beast born from nuclear radiation. From 1999 to 2004, he gradually left the "nuclear" content but was still violent. After 2004, his image changed. Sometimes he was a monster that destroyed the world, and sometimes he was a guardian who protected mankind. In the movie series, Godzilla movies set up metaphor meanings through the relationship between humans and Godzilla, reflecting the complete opposition between humans and Godzilla or the relationship between humans and Godzilla. It made the audience think about the dangers of nuclear radiation, the strong yearning, and the relationship between humans and nature. Since the birth of the first Godzilla movie in 1954, a large number of derivative works have been produced, including movies, animations, TV series, concerts, talk shows, etc. As of November 2023, there were still new movies being released.
