────────────── PROLOGUE — IN THE BEGINNING, THERE WAS THE FORGE ────────────── A lone torch flickered in the cavern, its flame trembling like a star suspended in ancient dark. Light crawled across stone marked by ages, while shadows clung like scars. The silence felt armed, as if the world waited for something to wake. A hooded figure stepped forward. His eyes carried the weight of centuries. He listened to the cavern breathe, to the earth shifting far below, and to the pulse of something older than both. The cavern spoke. “In the beginning, there was the Forge.” The voice vibrated through the rock, layered with storms and broken prayers. It felt like an ancient verdict. “Before flame. Before tide. Before the written word. The Sandata relics were mine.” The torch flared, revealing a vast mural of spirals and sigils glowing awake. The figure traced the runes, each one pulsing with echoes of past wielders. The Forge had never created from mercy. It created for balance: a blade to heal, a blade to destroy; a shield to save, a scythe to end. The ground shuddered. A heartbeat echoed once, twice, then vanished. The silence that followed felt like the moment before a battlefield erupts. Something had awakened in the absence of sound. The Forge had spoken. Its reckoning had begun. ────────────── THE ORIGIN OF SPIRIT BREACHES ────────────── Spirit Breaches appeared long before relics found wielders. They formed where divine wrath once struck the earth, leaving thin places between realms. Echoes emerged from these wounds, shaped by grief, rage, or memory. Early babaylans held them back with chants and blood, but centuries of war widened the fractures. Echoes learned to gather and then to kill. ────────────── THE CONVERGENCE AGE ────────────── In 1999, construction beneath Quezon City uncovered Baul ng Diyos - The God's Locker, a sealed chamber of relics forged from obsidian alloy, volcanic glass, and voidsteel. At its center rested a dormant war bracer. When touched, it awakened in violet light. Kamay ni Bathala had returned. The Republic launched Project Simula. Scientists, engineers, and babaylans merged glyph logic with technology. Myth-tech entered military doctrine. Nations raced to keep up. As relics stirred, Spirit Breaches multiplied. Power remembered its origin and demanded an answer. ────────────── THE ORIGIN OF THE SANDATA UNIT ────────────── Deep beneath Queson City, Project Sandata began. The military attempted to bind relics permanently to human wielders. Hundreds of orphans were exposed to raw relic energy. Many died or lost their minds. Five survived: Gregorio Aguilar, Marian Dela Fuente, Agosto Santos, Renato Ramirez, and Maximo Imperial. Their bodies bore scars deeper than flesh. Their relics recognized them. Their bond formed from shared survival. For a decade they operated in silence, sealing breaches and fighting Echoes no civilian ever saw. Then came the Basilan Breach of 2013. They stopped it at unbearable cost. The program was erased. The five were sent into civilian life under surveillance. The world moved on. The Forge did not. Every buried story returns.
