What is 'the thicket novel' about?
I'm not sure specifically as there could be many novels named something like that. It might be about a thicket, which could involve stories set in a dense growth of bushes or small trees, perhaps with characters exploring it, getting lost in it, or something mysterious hidden within it.

Eating fish for the abyss, driving sparrows from the thicket
You may have misstated it, but the correct way to say it is to drive away the fish in the abyss and the birds in the thicket. The original meaning of this idiom is that the otter wants to catch fish to eat, but drives the fish into the abyss; the hawk wants to catch sparrows to eat, but drives the sparrows into the jungle. The original metaphor was not appropriate and counterproductive. Later, it was used to describe the tyranny of the ruler, causing the people to turn to the enemy, and it was also used to describe the inability to unite people, pushing people who should be close to each other to the opposite side. This idiom is also used as "driving fish into the abyss" or "driving sparrows into the thicket", which comes from Mencius. The novel " Watching the Moon on Fish Island " is equally exciting. To drive away the fish in the abyss, to drive away the sparrows in the thicket
Drive the fish into deep waters and the sparrows into the thickets. Originally, it was a metaphor for improper methods that led to the opposite result. Later, it was used to describe rulers who practiced tyranny, causing the people to turn to the enemy side; it can also be used to describe not being good at uniting people and pushing those who should be in a close relationship to the opposite side. The novel " Watching the Moon on Fish Island " is equally exciting. Everyone is welcome to click and read it!

Comparing the Story of Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas
Well, Fallout 3's story is great for those who like a more personal and somewhat linear adventure. The main character has a clear goal from the start - find dad. The worldbuilding in Fallout 3 is also quite good, but it mainly serves to support this central story. In Fallout New Vegas, the story is a complex web. You start as a Courier who gets caught in the middle of a huge power struggle. There are so many different paths you can take depending on which faction you side with. Each faction has its own ideology and goals, and your choices really shape the outcome of the story. It offers a much more immersive and replayable story experience than Fallout 3.
