Filial piety in the Analects of Confucius had the following manifestations: 1. ** Respect parents **: Supporting parents is basic, but only supporting parents without respect cannot be called filial piety. Don't be lazy when you walk according to your parents 'orders. Parents teach, must listen respectfully. Parents must accept their responsibilities." 2. Filial piety at home and respect for the elder brother outside was also a manifestation of filial piety. 3. [Filial Piety with Benevolence as the Prerequisite]: Confucians talk about filial piety based on benevolence. Benevolence is the prerequisite of filial piety. If one is not benevolent, it will be difficult to practice true filial piety. 4. ** Three years of mourning **: In ancient times, parents had to mourn for three years after their death. Even if they were officials, they had to take leave to go home to mourn. This reflected their filial piety to their parents. 5. ** Three years without changing the way of the father **: When the father is alive, observe the child's ambition; after the father dies, observe the child's behavior. If the child still practices the father's way three years after the father dies, it can be called filial piety. The "father" here could also be understood as "master" and other respected elders. 6. When parents are alive, they should not be too far away from home. If they want to leave, they must tell them where to go. When they are outside, they must take good care of themselves and not let their parents worry. This is also a manifestation of filial piety. 7. [Let parents worry about their illness]: Experience the sad mentality of parents when they are sick, and treat parents with the same mentality. It is also filial piety to not let parents worry about their studies and conduct. Read more exciting novels for free
