The MTF curve was a scientific method to analyze the resolution and contrast reproduction ability of a lens. Field curvature was a type of lens aberrations. Due to the characteristics of the concave lens, its imaging surface was not flat, and the light-sensitive element was flat, resulting in the surface formed by the image points on the object surface to be a curved surface. This kind of imaging defect was field curvature. When judging the lens field curvature, there was a corresponding diagram. The vertical axis was the position of the Gauss image plane (ideal image plane), and the horizontal axis was the offset distance. T and S in the diagram represented the meridian field curvature and the sagittal field curvature respectively, and the distance between T and S represented the size of the aberration. In the MTF curve, the contrast, resolution, out-of-focus image, and partial aberrations of the lens could be clearly expressed (including information related to field curvature). It was currently a more comprehensive and accurate method to evaluate the clarity of a lens, but it also had its limitations. It was not the entire index to analyze the quality of the lens. Read more exciting novels for free
