Sin Hunter was a domestic suspense drama that was released in 2023. It had 12 episodes and each episode was 45 minutes long. It was directed by Yan Yuchao and starred by Peng Yu, Zhou Xiaoou, Liu Guanlin and Sun Yizhen. The drama was adapted from the online novel Sin Hunter (also known as Underworld Detective), and the story was set in a country outside Southeast Asia. The protagonist, Song Yang, was a descendant of the forensic doctor, Song Ci. As the last coroner, he relied on his inherited autopsy techniques to help the local police solve many strange cases. The audience's comments on this drama were mixed since it started broadcasting. On the one hand, some viewers thought that it could be called a "magical modification." Other than a few names that were the same as the original, the content was quite different. The screenwriter's changes had many flaws and illogical points. The connection of the images and the design of small details were rough, so there were many one-star negative reviews. On the other hand, some viewers felt that it wasn't completely useless. The texture of the screen was good. The opening scene was dark and had a movie atmosphere. The main scene had the texture commonly used in suspense crime solving dramas and Southeast Asian style. Some small scenes were well constructed, such as Song Yang's hand-drawn portrait and the case clues sorted out by the police office. The details added a sense of professionalism. Moreover, the rhythm design not only had a suspense atmosphere but also a humorous atmosphere. Watching The Illustrated Guide to Sin Hunting 2 wasn't enough. Sin Hunter was a web drama that contained all kinds of complicated cases. In the story, there was a woman in loose clothes, but she was willing to be tied up. The protagonist, Song Yang, relied on his superb coroner skills and used the autopsy technique that had been passed down for thousands of years to cooperate with the investigators. In the play, the bloodthirsty nature of bats (especially the fishy eel blood) was used to uncover the secret behind the mystery of vampires. There was also the "Ghostface Clown" who was obsessed with revenge because of his miserable childhood. The overall plot was mind-blowing and exciting. In terms of adaptation, the series had a total of 12 episodes, with each episode being 20 minutes long. It mainly selected two story archetypes from the original work and a story of a villain. They were the campus piano murder case, the vampire case, and a villain clown from the Jiangbei Savage Blade organization. In the original novel, the school piano murder case was a female ghost using the piano to kill people, and the TV series adapted it into a manslaughter between classmates. In the original novel, the vampire case was a boy who used his vampire-like skills to frequently kill people and was bloody and violent. In the original story, The Clown Case was a natural-born murderer who only knew how to kill, set fire to, and explode. The plot of the clown's brainless murder and destruction was greatly reduced in the movie. It also added a plot related to his original family. The male protagonist and the clown (named Ah Gui in the movie) lived together in an orphanage, and their fates were different because of the different adoptive parents. This was to express the importance of children in their original family and childhood growth. Some viewers thought that the series was a bit disappointing. The series was called "The Sin Hunter"(formerly known as "Detective of the Underworld"). They thought that there would be a supernatural theme, but it didn't. The story took place in Thailand, but the direction of the case eventually led to special groups and morbid psychology, which was somewhat cliché. However, it used the genre of "police consultant." The protagonist, Song Yang, was restricted by his family and could not really serve the police. Moreover, the movie did not completely combine Song Yang's family skills with the concept of "Song Ci." Instead, it used "special abilities" to give Song Yang "super senses." In terms of supporting roles, Zhou Xiaoou's role as Wang Dali was a little too typical. The Song Yang family's main plot was well foreshadowed, but without a second season, it might become a burden. Watching The Illustrated Guide to Sin Hunting 2 wasn't enough.
