Stardust Crusaders was a Japanese manga by Hiko Araki, the third in the Jojo's Bizarre Adventures series. The title of the book was 'The Legacy of the Future' and was included in volumes 12 - 28 of Jojo's book. The story began in Japan in 1987. A hundred years after Jonathan Jostar fought his arch-enemy, DIO, DIO was accidentally salvaged from the Atlantic Ocean and reborn. At the same time, Joseph's grandson, Shotaro Sorajo, suddenly discovered that he had the ability to create a Shadow Ripple (Substitute). It was caused by the awakening of DIO's Substitute ability. At the same time, it also affected Holly Sorajo, who had no resistance to the Substitute, and made her fall into critical condition. In order to save her mother who was on the verge of death, Shotaro, Joseph, Noriaki Hanakyuin, and Abdel set off for DIO's hiding place: Egypt. They traveled through Hong Kong, Singapore, India, Pakistan, and the Red Sea by plane, train, carriage, ship, camel, submarine, and other means of transportation. Along the way, they were constantly attacked by the Tarot Card Substitutes sent by DIO, and they met their partner J. P. Polunarev in the battle. After landing in Egypt, the group met up with their partner Iki and defeated the subordinate sent by DIO, the God of Nine Glory. Finally, they found DIO's residence and ended the fated grudge of a hundred years. After entering the DIO Pavilion, Abdel and Iki died in order to protect Polunarev from the enemy. The remaining four people had a final showdown with DIO, and the two sides chased each other to death on the streets of Cairo. In order to solve the mystery of DIO's substitute ability, Hua Jingyuan stepped forward and set up the Dharma Emperor's enchantment to challenge DIO. However, he was suddenly killed. Before he died, he speculated that DIO's substitute could pause time and passed this message to Joseph. When Joseph and DIO fought, he realized that he was not a match for them, so he could only pass the message to Chengtaro, who arrived in time. In the end, only Shotaro confronted DIO alone. The two were evenly matched at first. DIO used Time Freeze to put Shotaro at a disadvantage. Borunarev also tried to assassinate DIO on the way, but he could not completely defeat him. This work was also adapted into a TV animation. On October 18, 2013, the animation was announced. The animation continued to be produced by David Production.
