Project Vegas
In a not-too-distant future, the city of Prime Vegas is, to many, the place of dreams.
It is the golden era of video games. An era where people no longer work, or bother themselves with the throes of life; where one’s worth is determined by heir ability to play, to win, and to conquer.
This is due to the revolutionary technology of realistic VR games. A technology so groundbreaking that the world is taken by storm.
Unfortunately, Prime Vegas is not the place of dreams for everyone. In fact, it is the opposite for a select few. A place of nightmares.
Michael Stellar is no exemption.
After clearing every last bit of money he could find to conquer the first level of an unbeatable new game, he somehow still ends up losing.
Again.
And again.
And again.
No matter how many times he tries, he never even comes close to clearing the first level.
As he ends up losing everything, he finds himself at a new low.
Down with no money, no house…
Nothing.
There was a promised 100 million-dollar prize as well and somehow he’d lost that too.
As if that weren’t enough, he watches his six-year relationship crumble in the blink of an eye.
In a fit of despair, Michael wished he could somehow reverse time, and get a do-over.
Unexpectedly, a deliberate stroke of fortune sees to it that he gets selected as a candidate for the game’s new VR mode.
“But wait, why does this VR feel oddly too realistic?!” Michael thought to himself.
“Worst of all, why would I take the character of Milo Ashgrim, a forgotten side-character doomed to die?”
Michael stared at his reflection, his eyes going wide.
“Is that a bionic arm?!”
Now blessed with advanced tech from a dystopian, cyberpunk era, Michael, now Milo Ashgrim, ventures to retrieve all that he’d lost.
And rewrite the fate that was never meant to be changed.
