The snow-capped mountains lie at my feet
Three months into my pregnancy, my soulmate Alpha betrayed me.
That evening, Alpha Marcus sat across the dining table from me, his golden-brown Alpha eyes flickering with unease.
He absent-mindedly poked at the food on his plate; his slender fingers trembled slightly, his muscles were taut, and his nostrils flared.
It was a sign that the wolf within him was restless.
“Serena, there’s an urgent matter at the company that needs attending to.” He stood up, not even daring to look me in the eye.
Elena, the wolf spirit within me, whispered in my mind: “He’s lying, he’s lying...”
Less than half an hour later, Dr Caroline’s social media account was updated with a photograph.
She was dressed in black lace, wearing a necklace that sparkled brilliantly under the lights.
The caption read: ‘Destined.’
My message to Alpha Marcus went unanswered.
That night, he didn’t come home.
Early the next morning, I booked an appointment for a termination.
I wanted none of it: the child, the marriage, the soulmate.
