TOFT
Raised in a small fishing village by his adoptive father, who passed away when he was twelve, Orion, now sixteen, spent his entire life wondering about the truth behind his birth… until one reckless mistake destroyed everything he knew.
When a group of powerful warriors known as FOCi arrive in his town searching for others of their kind, Orion steals several priceless items from them without understanding the consequences. His actions leave the FOCi unprepared when a terrifying Splinter Beast, an inhuman creature driven by an insatiable hunger for chaos and destruction, attacks the village.
Though the monster is eventually defeated, the damage is catastrophic. Innocent people Orion once knew are killed, the village is scarred forever, and he is arrested for his role in the tragedy.
Taken to the kingdom’s capital to be judged for his crimes, Orion expects and desires execution. Instead, he is handed a far crueler punishment.
He is forced to join the very people he betrayed and thrown into humanity’s millennium-long war against the Splinter Beasts. Now, he must fight these creatures both in the human world and on the World’s Horn, which is a massive floating landmass high above the skies, where the beasts originate.
Such a task would be impossible for any ordinary human. But Orion is not human and neither is he a FOCi.
He belongs to an entirely different and exceedingly rare species known as Veilborn—beings born from Wraith Liars which are a rare and far more dangerous type of Splinter Beast.
Now caught between two worlds, his monstrous lineage and the human life he still clings to, Orion must uncover what he truly is before the monster within him consumes everything around him.
