Card Apprentice Daily Log

Card Apprentice Daily Log

Dalton Wyatt, a world-renowned scientist and inventor, is transmigrated into the body of a high school student, also named Dalton Wyatt, who had tragically committed suicide due to unfortunate circumstances and a complicated life. The enchanting world of cards he finds himself in is vastly different from Earth, yet eerily similar in certain aspects. Unlike the peaceful Earth, where humans fought only amongst themselves, this new world is plagued by dungeons and monsters. Here, humanity's survival hinges on battling these mythical and legendary creatures. Ordinary mortals lack the strength to stand against such formidable foes. Thankfully, a select few are blessed with the ability to harness their souls, manifest soul power, and become card apprentices—humanity’s last hope against extinction. Card apprentices are individuals who form contracts with grimoires, mystical artifacts that allow them to wield powerful and versatile cards to fend off monsters and conquer dungeons. A grimoire provides card apprentices with abilities such as card creation and card fusion. Most importantly, it enables them to unlock their full potential in card battles. While this world shares the concept of science with Earth, its focus is not on electronics or industrialization. Instead, cards replace the need for most technologies, fulfilling even the smallest of daily necessities. This world revolves entirely around the grimoire’s abilities, particularly card creation and card fusion. Transmigrated to a place where strength can be bought with money, Dr. Wyatt is forced to earn a living to ensure his survival. Fortunately, with his otherworldly knowledge and expertise, card creation comes naturally to him, setting him apart from other card apprentices. Dr. Wyatt crafts and sells perfect, powerful, and resourceful cards, steadily growing stronger in this monster-ridden world. --- "What did you say? Making good cards is hard? Bah! Card creation is a breeze." "My friend, let me enlighten you—there are no 'trash card ingredients,' only incompetent card creationists." [Commencing card creation using ingredients, i)Bloody Veins - G Rank, Mortal Grade ii)Nyon Rope - G Rank, Mortal Grade iii)Common Core - G Rank, Mortal Grade Card creation… complete! Card Name: Bloody Rope Card Type: Item Card Card Rank: E Rank, Common Grade Card Rating: 3 Stars Card Durability: 100/100 Card Effect: The Bloody Rope can bind and incapacitate its target. You used G-rank mortal-grade ingredients and yet crafted an E-rank common-grade card with full durability and a three-star rating? This isn’t real—I must still be dreaming! I couldn’t possibly have woken up today—this has to be a dream!"

Tempest of the Stellar War

Tempest of the Stellar War

He received a genetic score of 28... completely disqualifying him from applying to military college! He helped deliver a friend's love letter... and fell into a lake becoming infamous for dying for love! His very first gift... warped him into a brutal training simulation! However he perserved through all these trials! Our Dear Student Wang Zheng has finally started his lucky(?) university life! This is the song of a blood boiling and exciting storm! The most ferocious and heated mecha adventure around is finally here! TL Note: This is a novel about doing the impossible, seeing the invisible. Follow along for a ride across the universe! TL;DR: Not Shakespeare, not complex, but fun and easy to read. Come support! As the translator, I've enjoyed translating this novel and I hope to bring the essence of what the author has tried to portray into the chapters you will read. To sum it up in 3 words: Mechs! Explosions! Science! To be perfectly honest, this novel is about your typically overpowered protagonist who does get looked down from time to time but always overcomes the odds with his own special power. He's abit more mature having grown up on his own and just a littttttttle bit dense. Although it always ends up with him winning, it always happens in an interesting (subjective) and fun way that makes me enjoy reading this. The novel has elements of lighthearted comedy from time to time and I do chuckle at how direct the humor is. It's not as smart as say WMW nor does it weave an intricate story much like Ergen's novels. More importantly, its fun and it doesn't try to hide it.

The novel focuses on satisfying plot twists, but does not rule out emotional pain, readers with a fragile heart, beware. The ending is happy, with a promise of no unfinished plots.

What are the steps to perform a card trick that tells a story?
Let's say you want to do a card trick with a story about a hero's journey. Begin by picking out a card to be the hero, like a knight card. Start by having the knight alone in the deck. Then, introduce the 'enemies' which could be some spade cards. As you tell the story, use card sleights like false cuts to make it seem like the knight is facing challenges. For example, when the knight has to cross a 'river' (represented by some blue - backed cards), you can do a simple card slide to show the movement. Keep adding elements to the story and corresponding card moves until the hero reaches his goal, like getting to the top of the deck which is the 'castle' at the end of the journey.

Can you show me a card trick that tells a story?
Sure. One simple card trick that can tell a story is the 'Three Card Monte'. You start with three cards, say two kings and a queen. The story could be about a queen trying to escape the two kings. You shuffle the cards around really fast and ask the spectator to keep their eye on the queen. Then you show them where the queen is at the end, like the end of the story where the queen manages to hide or get away from the kings.

Can you explain a magic card trick that tells a story?
There's a card trick where you use a deck to tell the story of a hero's journey. Take out the ace of spades (the hero). Begin by showing it alone. Then start adding cards to represent the challenges the hero faces. For example, you add a couple of low - numbered cards as minor obstacles. As you keep going, you might add face cards as more significant foes. And in the end, when the ace of spades is still there on top, it's like the hero has overcome all the difficulties in the story.

What are the key elements of the card truck trick that tells a story?
Well, first off, the story concept is vital. It has to be something that can be effectively told with cards. Then there's the selection of cards. They should be distinct enough to represent different parts of the story. The card truck is a key element as it can be used to introduce new cards or move the story along, like a stage in a play. Also, the magician's patter, the words they say while performing the trick, should be in sync with the actions and the story. This all combines to create an effective card truck trick that tells a story.
