Even in the film they played against street ballers, not real systemic hoopers. And since, there is no chance that the top guys would ever go to Japan, because of lack of competition, I decided to go for the most realistic lane and got a bunch of misfits together to go to Japan + expand the competition, adding new Pan Asian high school tournament with top competition. Moreover, the GoM won't be staying in one place after the first encounter, since in the original story, they didn't have any other motivation to expand their game and improve, after meeting 'da boys' they will be forced to.
