" Otherworld " was a work that contained profound meaning. One could have different experiences from different angles. From a psychological point of view, the film revealed many psychological phenomena and human weaknesses. The " ghosts " encountered by the characters in the film were not supernatural phenomena in the traditional sense, but the outward manifestation of repressed emotions, painful memories, and psychological trauma. For example, Zhang Xin, the trauma of her parents 'divorce and abandonment in her childhood made her depressed. This depression turned into a "ghost" on the conscious and subconscious level, and the incomprehension of the people around her and the lack of human feelings aggravated her illness. She escaped from loneliness and fear. Only after receiving the love and care of the psychiatrist and having a new understanding of life did the "ghost" disappear. This meant that psychological trauma needed the understanding and love of the outside world to heal, and at the same time, the patient needed to face life positively. For psychiatrist Ah Jim, although he was engaged in helping others solve psychological problems, his own escape from past painful experiences eventually caused him to fall into a serious psychological crisis. He did not want to face the guilt and grief of abandoning his girlfriend and causing her to commit suicide. This suppressed emotion accumulated in his subconscious and finally exploded in the form of seeing a ghost. This showed that even professionals could not really get rid of their inner troubles if they did not face their own psychological problems. From the perspective of human nature and society, the film reflected the indifference of human feelings in real society. Zhang Xin's relatives only thought that she was mentally ill or haunted by ghosts and did not give her the humane care she deserved. To a certain extent, this indifference aggravated the loneliness and depression in the individual's heart, reflecting the importance of true understanding and care between people in mental health. From an artistic point of view, the film created a terrifying atmosphere through terrifying images and sound effects, but behind it was a deep psychological and human theme. The director used the horror element to visualize the abstract psychological trauma, so that the audience could feel the horror and also think deeply about the character's inner pain and the social factors behind it.
