Foreigners 'views on Stephen Chou's Journey to the West movies (such as the American version of Monkey King) could be analyzed from the ratings of the movies. After the US version of Monkey King was released on the internet, the foreign media's reputation was not ideal. Rotten Tomatoes 'freshness was only 61%, the audience's Popcorn Index was only 59%, and the average score of the users on the imdbb was only 5.9. At the same time, there were also opinions that the American animated film industry was developed but lacked cultural content. When dealing with topics like Journey to the West, they were mostly playful and superficial. For example, there were criticisms of the random adaptation and ugliness of the image of Sun Wukong in the American version of Monkey King, and the denial of traditional China stories from the core. However, there were also cases where the quality of the film production itself, such as rhythm and logic, was recognized. However, overall, from the current situation, foreigners 'acceptance of Stephen Chow-related Journey to the West was not high and there were many disputes. Read more exciting novels for free

Foreign film critics had given a high rating to Stephen Chou's "Journey to the West"."The Great Sage of a Chinese Opus: The Wedding" had received a high score of 8.1 in the imdbb, which was as high as "Farewell My Concubine". The film critics had rated it as "China's Odey 1 - 2", one of the greatest films in Asia, and also called it "Possibly the best Monkeytale yet!" (This might be the best story about monkeys),"thought Stephen's view of Journey to the West was confusing in parts, but strangely, all of it made sense," thought Stephen,"Maybe it's because too many things have happened, maybe it's because it's so full of fantasy and myths about China, or maybe it's because you're just mocking these actors, but most importantly, this is one of the best stories about Monkey King I've ever seen." As for the American version of Monkey King produced by Stephen Chou, although there were some highlights in the production, such as gorgeous animation and wonderful action scenes, it was criticized for its cultural problems and poor reputation. With only 5200 people rating it, it received an extremely low score of 5.5, and more than 37% of the audience gave it a 1 - 2 star rating. Some people think that the United States has adopted a high and mighty attitude to negatively adapt traditional China stories. For example, the image of Sun Wukong has been randomly adapted and uglified, and the traditional China stories have been denied from the core. This kind of adaptation may not meet the expectations of some foreign audiences for the respectful presentation of China culture. However, there are some magical changes that meet the understanding of Western audiences, especially children's audiences, such as simplified plots and interesting adaptation.(For example, the communication method between the Dragon King and the Jade Emperor was changed to a phone call, etc.). However, the audience who came for Journey to the West might be dissatisfied with the magical changes, and the audience who came for Hollywood animation would feel that they did not grasp the essence of the original work. Read more exciting novels for free

A Chinese Oath to the West, which starred Zhou Xingchi, was a unique adaptation of Journey to the West. The image of Sun Wukong caused controversy. Although Journey to the West's Kingdom of Women did not involve the role played by Stephen Chou, from the spiritual core, most of the Journey to the West series could not escape the influence of Stephen Chou's version of Journey to the West. Both of them involved emotional conflict topics such as love and responsibility. For example, in Journey to the West, Tang Sanzang faced the choice of loving one person and loving all living beings. In Journey to the West, there was a contradiction between wearing a tight hoop spell and not being able to love you, and taking off the tight hoop spell could not save you.
