¿Qué hace un troll de internet cuando el mundo se convierte en el videojuego de terror más injugable de la historia? Astrad, un "niño rata" profesional, descubre la respuesta cuando el apocalipsis cancela su conexión a internet y lo obliga a salir de su cuarto. Para su sorpresa, todas las horas "perdidas" en foros y wikis de monstruos son ahora la única guía para no terminar como el almuerzo de una abominación con demasiados dientes. Forzado a salir de su cueva, Astrad no busca salvar a la humanidad, solo a sí mismo y a su perro. Sin embargo, el destino y su propio pragmatismo retorcido lo obligan a liderar a un grupo de supervivientes tan disfuncional como él. Armado con un rifle de aire , un sarcasmo letal y un diario lleno de las debilidades de cada monstruo, deberá navegar un apocalipsis donde la mayor amenaza no siempre tiene garras y colmillos, sino que a veces se esconde en la estupidez humana. Para sobrevivir, no necesitarán un héroe. Necesitarán a un bastardo con un plan.

Cuando la vida de un normal trabajador se ve dada vuelta después de ser transportado a otro mundo, tendrá que encontrar la forma de sobrevivir en este nuevo mundo, mientras lucha con las relaciones que su nuevo cuerpo tenia antes de que el tomara el control. Forzado en medio de una guerra de especies, tendrá que elegir lados, hacer alianzas y pelear para sobrevivir y proteger a los que quiere.
