Well, Naruto eating a devil fruit in fanfiction would be quite a wild concept. Depending on the type of devil fruit, his fighting style would change drastically. If it was a Paramecia type, say the Gomu Gomu no Mi (Rubber - Rubber Fruit), his already acrobatic and flexible combat moves would become even more so. He could stretch his limbs to incredible lengths, adding a whole new dimension to his taijutsu. It would also make for some really interesting interactions with his friends and foes, as they would have to adapt to this new - powered Naruto.

One idea could be a story where a young pirate discovers the Oca ate Magu Magu no Mi. They struggle at first to control the power of the fruit but gradually learn to master it. They use the powers to protect their crew from a powerful enemy.
