Today, we are gathered here to pay attention to a special day-International Children's Day.

Children were the future and hope of the world. They were the sun at eight or nine o'clock in the morning, full of infinite vitality and potential. The establishment of International Children's Day is to further promote the vigorous development of child protection, welfare, and education on a global scale. It urges us to reach an international consensus to pay attention to the various problems faced by children, constantly raise awareness of the rights of children around the world, and strive to improve the well-being of children.

Every child should have the right to grow up healthily. In terms of physical health, a healthy body was the cornerstone for children to thrive. It was the premise for them to explore the world and pursue their dreams. Mental health could not be ignored either. A healthy child should be emotionally stable and able to maintain a continuous happy and positive state of mind. This positive emotion would help improve the efficiency of their daily activities, and at the same time, they would be recognized and praised by the people around them, thus forming a virtuous cycle. Of course, children also had negative emotions, but if negative emotions such as anxiety, fear, obsessiveness, and depression appeared repeatedly and too frequently, it might suggest that there was a problem with mental health.

Normal intelligence was also an important manifestation of a child's mental health. Children with normal intelligence had independent, original, alert, and energetic personality traits, and could quickly adapt to the surrounding environment. Children with low intelligence had poor social adaptability. They often faced many difficulties in collective life and learning in kindergarten, and their psychological pressure was also greater. They were prone to various psychological problems, which required special education and care.

In terms of personality and self-awareness, children with mental health were relatively stable, cheerful, enthusiastic, generous, and brave. They began to correctly understand and evaluate themselves, and their self-esteem continued to develop. They actively sought independence and were full of confidence in themselves. On the contrary, children with unhealthy mental health may have poor personality development, showing characteristics such as timidity, indifference, loneliness, inferiority, and lack of self-esteem.

Children's interpersonal relationships were mainly reflected in their relationships with their parents, teachers, and peers. Psychologically healthy children are happy to interact with others, good at cooperating and sharing with their peers, understanding and respecting others, generous and friendly to others, and easy to be understood and accepted by others. Children with unhealthy mental health often could not cooperate with others, were indifferent to others, lacked sympathy, were easily suspicious, jealous, and withdrawn, and were difficult to integrate into the group.

In addition, a healthy will and coordinated behavior were also important criteria for mental health. A mentally healthy child would have a budding will before the age of three. They would be able to use words to control their actions and have the desire to act independently. After the age of three, the consciousness, persistence, and self-control of the willpower quality developed. However, children with weak willpower had poor tolerance for setbacks, were afraid of difficulties, did things half-heartedly, lacked concentration, and lacked self-control. They were inconsistent in behavior, confused in thinking, and erratic in behavior. They might lose their temper over a small matter or be indifferent to strong stimulation.

As a member of society, each of us has the responsibility to create a good environment for the growth of children. Families should give their children enough care and proper guidance. Schools should provide high-quality educational resources and a positive and healthy environment for growth. All sectors of society should work together to protect the rights of children.
