In biology, evolution referred to the change of hereditary traits in a population between generations. Traits are determined by genes. During reproduction, genes are replicated and passed on to offspring. Mutation of genes can change traits, causing genetic variation between individuals. New traits could be transmitted through species migration or horizontal gene transfer between species. When genetic variation is affected by natural selection or genetic drift, and becomes common or no longer rare in the population, it means that evolution has occurred. The essence is the change in the gene frequency of the population.

The evolution of humans originated from the forest apes. From primates, it gradually developed and went through four stages: ape humans, primitive humans, intelligent humans, and modern humans. Some studies have shown that humans evolved from fish. This evolution process took about 500 million years, but it is not clear when the next evolution will occur.

Although some people believed that monogamy might stop human evolution because it might reduce genetic variation and lack natural selection, experts refuted this view. Human evolution did not stop, but the direction of evolution was different from the traditional natural selection. Human evolution had gone through the stages of primitive man, farming, industry, information technology, artificial intelligence, and space in the future.

In addition, there were some interesting phenomena in biological evolution. For example, the oyster evolved a hard shell to protect itself, but it became a container for its own meat; the pepper evolved capsaicins to avoid being eaten by animals, but it was used to make chili sauce; the crab's body structure caused its thigh meat to be poked out by the calf; the lemon evolved into lemon acid, but it became the raw material for beating lemons.
