Gilderoy Lockhart was a character in the Harry Potter series. He was a vain half-blood wizard. His mother was a witch, his father a Muggle, and he had been spoiled by his mother since he was a child. He thought highly of himself. Although he had some talent in magic, he only pursued fame. He had set many unrealistic goals at Hogwarts, and his grades were only slightly better than his classmates. He also plagiarized the works of other wizards and erased their memories after stealing their heroic deeds. For example, many of his books recorded the battles with magical creatures from the mages who had actually experienced these things, not his own experience. He also used the Memory Charm to make these mages lose their memories. He was a Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher at Hogwarts in 1992 - 93.

Lucius Malfoy was a Death Eater who was good at black magic. He was born into the ancient pure-blooded Malfoy family of wizards. He was the leader of the family, and he used his wealth and family to threaten other wizards into obeying his orders. He had light blond hair, cold grayish-blue eyes, and a pale pointed face. He was arrogant, scheming, and good at leading everything. He and Narcissa Malfoy had a son, Draco Malfoy, whose family despised mixed-blood and Muggle-born wizards. Under Voldemort's orders, he was usually the one to lead the attack on Muggles, and he was very good at manipulating people.

In the plot of the novel, they were all characters in the magical world where Harry Potter lived, and they all brought trouble or danger to Harry Potter and the others to varying degrees. Lockhart was neither a Dark wizard nor a Death Eater, but his vanity and plagiarism were contemptible, and Lucius, as a Death Eater, served Voldemort and stood against Harry Potter and the rest of the righteous.
