Jia Zheng was a character in Cao Xueqin's novel, Dream of the Red Chamber. He was the second master of the Rong Mansion, the second son of Jia Daishan and Jia's grandmother, Jia Baoyu's father, Lin Daiyu's uncle, and Xue Baochai's uncle. He was the male representative of the orthodox feudal aristocracy. Zheng was a homonym for Zheng, and he was a tragic figure deeply influenced by Confucianism.

Regarding Baoyu's reading, he believed that books that were not tested in the imperial examination, such as the Book of Songs and the ancient prose of the Tang and Song Dynasties, did not need to be read. However, in the last part of the eightieth chapter of Dream of the Red Chamber, his attitude towards forcing Baoyu to learn the eight-part essay to seek the imperial examination changed, and the conflict between father and son was significantly alleviated.
