The first season of Tyrant consisted of four episodes and was broadcast in 2024. This was an action, horror, and spy drama. It was directed by Park Hoon-Jeong, and starred Cha Seong-won, Kim Seon-ho, Cho Yoon-Soo, and Kim Kang-woo.

The plot revolved around the "Tyrant Project", which was led by Director Cui (Jin Xuanhu) and aimed to give superhuman abilities through the transformation of the human body. At the same time, the US intelligence agent Paul (King Kong Yu) launched a fierce pursuit of Director Cui and his team in order to seize the sample.

In order to raise funds for the establishment of the train cafe, he accepted the mission entrusted by Director Cui to eliminate all forces that hindered the Tyrant Plan. Director Cui was the youngest director of the National Intelligence Agency and the leader of the Tyrant Project. He was a dictator who did not hesitate to sacrifice his members to achieve his goal. Paul was a special agent of the Korean American intelligence agency and a firm believer of the "America First" concept. Cai Zijing suffered from dissociative identity disorder, and her other personality was her deceased twin brother. She accepted the commission to seize the sample but was betrayed. When she carried out her revenge, she was accidentally invaded by the sample and became a "tyrant". Moreover, she seemed to have been subjected to human experiments by the tyrant when she was young.

There were many things to watch in this drama. It was a spin-off of the Witch series. It shared the same worldview and had unlimited potential for expansion. It was an action drama that was popular throughout. The four episodes were full of plot, had a tight rhythm, and the martial arts scenes were exciting and had many reversals. The villain played by Kim Seon-ho was vicious and broke the gentle image of the past. Che Shengyuan's acting skills were amazing. He played the image of a ruthless killer who was easy to bully on the surface but carried out his mission very well. The villains were super exciting and the characters were outstanding. Zhao Yunxiu, who was known as the successor of Kim Duomei, had a stunning performance and insinuated that the relationship between South Korea and the United States was not equal. The ending was Director Cui's suicide, and Mr. Cai's appearance hinted that there might be a second season.
