How to sing the song of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau
The Dream Camel Bell on the Qinghai-Tibet Line
The "Dream Camel Bell" on the Qinghai-Tibet line had a profound historical meaning. In the 1950s, the camel bells of the Xizang Transportation Corps rang on the snowy plateau. At that time, after the peaceful liberation of Xizang, in order to build the Qinghai-Tibet highway, the Xizang Transportation Corps purchased about 20,000 peak camels from many places. Xiangride Town became a gathering place for materials and camels. The journey into Tibet was difficult. The camels that stretched for several kilometers explored the way as they walked, and the camel bells accompanied the camels. Many camel workers listened to the camel bell and followed the red flag. They crossed the mountains and waded through the swamps toward Tibet. Along the way, the livestock suffered heavy losses. On average, one animal fell every 500 meters, and hundreds of team members sacrificed their lives, but they were unyielding and fearless. During the construction of the Qinghai-Tibet highway, General Mu Shengzhong led a road construction army, including 1200 camel workers, soldiers of the People's Liberation Army, people of all ethnic groups, and engineers and technicians. They used primitive tools to build the Qinghai-Tibet highway in seven months and four days. The camel bell was not only the "anchor" of the Qinghai-Tibetan camel team, but also the psychological support of the camel workers. As long as they could hear the camel bell, they knew that the team had not dispersed and the direction of entering Tibet had not changed. Now, with the completion of the Qinghai-Tibet highway and the Qinghai-Tibet railway, the modern transportation system was constantly improved, and the Qinghai-Tibet camel workers gradually withdrew from the historical stage. However, the sound of the camel bell became a mark of history, bearing the hardships, dedication, and great spirit of the road construction process. In the local historical exhibition hall, the rusted camel bells and other artifacts were also silently telling the magnificent history. The novel "Dream of Silk Fate" is equally exciting.
