Should I participate in the first-year performance competition?
Whether or not the first grade should participate in the performance competition needed to be considered from different perspectives. On the positive side, participating in the performance competition could provide first-year students with an opportunity to show themselves, enhance their self-confidence, and train their ability to express themselves in front of the public, such as improving their language expression and stage performance in the process of reciting, singing, or performing short plays. Moreover, such competitions were often interesting. They could enrich the students 'campus life experience and cultivate their interests in artistic performances. However, there were also some negative factors. If they participated in the performance competition, they might need to spend time rehearsing and other preparatory work. This might affect the normal learning progress of first-year students to a certain extent, especially those who had just entered school. They needed more time to adapt to the basic courses of school. Therefore, there was no absolute answer to whether or not to participate in the first-year performance competition. One had to consider the student's own situation (such as whether they had a strong interest in performing, whether they could participate without affecting their studies), the expectations of their parents, and the arrangements of the school.
