Is there a height requirement for an actor?

Answer 1

There were no strict height requirements for male actors. Different roles and scripts had different height requirements. Generally speaking, male actors were considered suitable to be between 170cm and 185cm tall and 60 - 80kg in weight, but this was not absolute. Many outstanding actors did not meet this standard.

In terms of character requirements, when playing roles such as police officers and soldiers, the actor might be required to have a certain height and weight to match the character image, but it was different for some roles that required a petite image. Image and temperament were also important factors to consider. For example, the temperament of elegance, maturity, childishness, etc. was crucial to the character's compatibility. Acting ability was a key factor in determining whether an actor could be competent for the role. Excellent acting ability could make the audience ignore the actor's height and weight and focus on the performance. An actor's professionalism, such as acting skills, language skills, and body control, were also important factors in the selection. In addition, market demand would also affect it. For example, the current market might favor a certain type of actor, such as tall and mighty or thin and petite. In short, an actor's height was not the deciding factor for becoming an actor. It was more important to look at his acting ability, image, temperament, professionalism, and many other factors.
