The story of roses was called off the shelves
The main reason why 'The Story of Roses' was called off was because the female lead's character setting made some viewers uncomfortable. The female lead, Huang Yimei, had a superior living environment and outstanding conditions as soon as she appeared. The men around her seemed to fall for her. This perfect image was unreal and difficult to resonate with. She was always intoxicated by men's pursuit. Her vanity was at work and she lacked the courage to refuse. She accepted the men's flowers, dinner, waiting, and so on, making her parents embarrassed. For example, when she interacted with Zhou Shihui, who already had a partner, she had no sense of propriety when having dinner and drinking coffee, and she lacked the description of her contradictory psychology. All of these made the audience question the values of love promoted by the play, so some viewers asked for the play to be removed. The original work was equally exciting.
