How was the Pacific Rim filmed?
The filming of Pacific Rim involved many aspects: - ** Story background construction **: The film constructs a story background of a future world where humans face the threat of the giant deep-sea creature, Cullen. "Cullen" came to Earth from a different dimension through a "dimensional rift." Since conventional weapons had little effect on it, humans created a giant robot "mech" and formed a special force "Paragon Light Point". The mech required two pilots to share consciousness and thoughts through the "pontine connection" technology. These background settings laid the foundation for the filming of the film. - ** Character Creation **: The main character, Riley Backart, was once a mech pilot. He left the army because he lost his partner and brother in battle, but was recalled due to the threat. Mecco Morrie was the young female pilot who was his partner. They had similar tragic experiences. They gradually established trust and tacit understanding between them. This kind of character creation provided material for the character interaction and emotional entanglement in the filming plot. - ** Plot shooting **: The film advances the story by showing Riley's memories, his re-recruitment, his training after teaming up with Mecco, the trust building in the process of cooperation, and the internal challenges and external threats (such as conspiracies). During filming, the plot content needed to be presented through scene construction, actor performance, special effects production, and so on. For example, filming the battle between the mech and Cullen would require a lot of special effects to show the mech's huge and complex movements, as well as Cullen's massive and destructive power. However, since the reference did not give any details about the shooting techniques (such as the shooting equipment, the shooting location, the use of the green screen, and other specific shooting techniques), no more information could be provided in these areas. Pacific Rim 1
Pacific Rim 1 was an American sci-fi film released in 2013. The movie was set in the near future, where the Earth's environment was gradually deteriorating. Mysterious alien colonists sent huge, ferocious, and poisonous monsters to Earth through the wormhole at the bottom of the ocean to carry out the colonial destruction plan. For this reason, humans joined forces to create the "Skua Plan", creating mecha warriors that were the same size as the monsters to fight. However, as the monsters evolved, the mecha warriors were completely defeated. The politicians of various countries tried to build a "wall of life" to defend themselves, but they soon failed. After that, General Steke Pantecaster found the pilot of the "Dangerous Wanderer" and chose a new partner for him. The resurrected "Wanderer" would fight against the stronger monster invaders with the other three remaining mecha warriors while looking for a good opportunity to completely eliminate the enemy. The mechas in the movie had their own characteristics, such as: - China's Crimson Storm was a fourth-generation mech. It was 76 meters tall and weighed 1722 tons. It was piloted by three people. With a zooming telescope function, the three-person cockpit made it easier to control. The multi-petal electromagnetic pulse cannon on the right arm had a biological recognition function, and the three wrists could be transformed into electric saws. It was a speed and energy-type mech with weak armor. - America's Dangerous Wanderer was a third-generation mech. It was 79 meters tall and weighed 1980 tons. It was piloted by two people. Nuclear powered mech, inclined towards hand-to-hand combat. Its hand can be turned into a plasma cannon, and its right arm has a sword with a chain. Its combat style is street fighting. - Japan's Tango Wolf, the first generation mech, 82 meters tall, weighing 2312 tons, one passenger. He appeared early and did not have many shots. The cockpit could be ejected to escape. The powerful weapons were two huge mortars on his shoulders. - Russia's Cherno Alpha, the first generation mech, 84 meters tall, weighing 2412 tons, two passengers. It was as durable as a tank's armor, with a huge charging battery on the head, a cockpit on the chest, feet that could be nailed to the ground, and the tesla fist on the arm that could heavily injure monsters. - Australia's Eureka Raider, the fifth generation mech, 76 meters tall, 1850 tons, two passengers. He had a cold weapon, a "Stinger Blade Ejection Knife" on his arms, a six-linked missile on his chest, and an electric shock device on his fist. He was very agile and had wings on his back to maintain his balance. His combat style was underground boxing. The movie's setting was unique in that the physical parts were all built on the real scene. In order to allow the actors and the cockpit to have real interaction, the crew installed the cabin on a huge hydraulic device. The parts that connected the actors 'body parts were made of solid materials. Coupled with the weight of the armor, it was easy for the actors to show signs of difficulty. Pacific Rim 2
Pacific Rim 2 was an American sci-fi blockbuster. The story was set ten years later in Pacific Rim. The protagonist, Jack, was the son of the former commander-in-chief. He was originally a talented mecha hunter pilot, but he gave up on himself because of his father's sacrifice. They met the genius mech engineer Amala when they stole the energy of a retired mech. They were arrested for operating an unidentified mech and were given the option to join the mecha hunter team. The film was directed by Stephen S. Deknight and co-starred with many actors. The villain plot in the film included Dr. Neat's betrayal after being invaded by an alien pioneer, opening an underwater wormhole to release even more powerful monsters. In the climax of the movie, the mech and the monsters engaged in an intense battle. For example, three monsters arrived at Mount Fuji to destroy the city, and the mech went to intercept them. In the battle, the monsters would fuse into a level six monster, which had powerful lethality and defense. The battle between the mech and the monster was complicated and intense, and in the end, the humans won. The production of the film was affected by factors such as budget, shooting schedule, and post-production animation time. The schedule was changed several times and was released on March 23, 2018. Although it was regarded as a commercial film and the plot was old, the animation special effects and action scenes could still make the audience excited when watching the film, and the integration of China elements was not abrupt.
