Silent American Movie Plot Introduction
The American film, Silence, was set in Japan under the Tokugawa shogunate in the mid-17th century. At that time, Western religious activities were strictly prohibited and Christian believers were often brutally persecuted. The Portugal missionary Gerbe and Rodriguez sneaked into the Feizen area of Kyushu. The local Christian villagers were very happy and provided them with a place to hide. The two of them secretly preached under the strict search of the officials. Later, the guide Yoshijiro betrayed Rodriguez to the government. In prison, Rodriguez saw a warrior couple being tortured. The wife chose to quit the church to save her husband. The arrested Gerbe was unwilling to quit the church and committed suicide with the believers who were sentenced to waterboarding. Rodriguez's mentor, Ferreira, who had come to Japan to preach twenty years ago and disappeared, appeared in a samurai suit, but he had lost his faith and forced Rodriguez to quit. Rodriguez had to make a choice between leaving the church to save his followers or being loyal to his faith. The film showed many religious plots, such as the people who abandoned their religion many times and came back to repent, the women who betrayed their religion to save their loved ones, and the priests who doubted God and left their religion. Through these plots, they triggered deep thinking about religious beliefs. " The Silent Eyewitness " novel is equally exciting. Everyone is welcome to click and read it!
