In the Jonah bible story, Jonah was told by God to go to Nineveh. He chose to flee instead. He boarded a ship, and soon a violent storm hit. The sailors were desperate to save the ship. Jonah told them to throw him overboard. He was swallowed by a large fish. After some time in the fish's belly, Jonah was spit out. He then went to Nineveh, and when he preached, the people there repented, which was God's intention all along.
