I'm a big fan of Angela Bassett as Marie Laveau in 'Coven'. She was powerful and had a great presence. In 'Roanoke', Sarah Paulson as Lana Winters in 'Asylum' was also great. Her journey from a naive journalist to a survivor was really engaging. And Finn Wittrock as Dandy in 'Freak Show' was so disturbing yet captivating as this spoiled and deranged rich kid.
My favorite is Kathy Bates as Delphine LaLaurie in 'Coven'. She brought this historical figure to life in such a cruel and yet fascinating way. And Lady Gaga as the Countess in 'Hotel' was also a standout. She had this alluring yet dangerous quality that made her character very memorable. There's also Denis O'Hare as Spalding in 'Freak Show'. His loyalty to the Countess despite her madness was really something.
I really like Jessica Lange's characters. She was amazing as Sister Jude in 'Asylum'. Her transformation from a strict nun to a more complex and tortured soul was really interesting. Also, Evan Peters as Tate in 'Murder House' was great. His character was so mysterious and had a lot of depth.
