The story of Jonah and the whale is a well - known religious story. Jonah was a prophet who was told by God to go to Nineveh. But Jonah didn't want to go, so he tried to run away by boarding a ship. However, God sent a great storm, and the sailors, realizing Jonah was the cause, threw him into the sea. Then a big whale swallowed Jonah. Inside the whale, Jonah prayed to God for three days and three nights. Eventually, the whale spat Jonah out onto dry land, and Jonah then went to Nineveh as God had originally commanded.
The story, as a little girl might convey it, begins with Jonah being disobedient to God's call to go to Nineveh. He boards a ship instead of following God's plan. The ship is caught in a violent storm, which the sailors believe is due to Jonah's disobedience. So, they throw him into the sea. At that moment, a whale appears and swallows Jonah whole. While inside the whale, Jonah has a spiritual awakening. He repents and prays to God. After three days, the whale vomits Jonah out onto the shore. Jonah then makes his way to Nineveh to fulfill God's original command.
Well, the little girl might tell it like this. Jonah was this guy who didn't listen to God. He got on a ship to get away from what God wanted him to do. And then, bam! A huge storm came. The people on the ship were so scared. They found out Jonah was the problem and tossed him into the sea. Next thing you know, a whale gulped him down. Jonah was all alone in the whale's belly. But he talked to God and, after some time, the whale let him out, and he finally did what God asked and went to that place, Nineveh.
