The author of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms was Luo Guanzhong, a Chinese novelist of the Ming Dynasty. This novel was written in the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty (about 1592 to 1602 AD) and has a history of about 500 years.
There were four versions of Romance of the Three Kingdoms. They were Romance of the Three Kingdoms by the Ming Dynasty novelist Luo Guanzhong, the Three Desperate Fates, a continuation of Romance of the Three Kingdoms by the Yuan Dynasty writer Ma Zhiyuan, and Lecture Notes of the Three Kingdoms from Dream of the Red Chamber by the Qing Dynasty novelist Cao Xueqin. The earliest of these versions could be traced back to the Ming Dynasty, and the latest was the Qing Dynasty. Among them, Romance of the Three Kingdoms was the most classic version and one of the most widely circulated and deeply rooted literary works. The novel was written in the early 17th century during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty.
