Camel Xiangzi was first published in modern China in 1939. Lao She was a famous modern Chinese author whose works described the lives of the people at the bottom of society with profound social meaning and humane spirit. Lao She was born in 1899 with the original name Shu Qingchun in a poor family in Beijing. He had studied in a private school and entered Tsinghua University, but was forced to drop out of school because of poverty. Later, when he was working in Beijing, he began to write literature and published his first novel, Lao Zhang's Philosophy, in 1924. Lao She was known as the father of modern literature. His works had a far-reaching impact on modern Chinese literature. His representative works include the novel "Camel Xiangzi","Four Generations Under One roof","Teahouse" and so on. These works not only made great achievements in literature, but also deeply reflected the social reality and people's fate at that time. Lao She was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1956 for his essay "Lao She's Fictions and Beijing Culture", but he did not win the award in the end. His life was full of ups and downs, and he had suffered from political oppression and physical illness many times.
