Netease Cloud Reading Why can all foreign works be read, but domestic works have to be paid
Netease Cloud Reading was an online reading platform that mainly provided various types of literary works, including novels, essays, poems, and so on. Most of the copyrights of foreign works came from major publishing houses or manufacturers, while domestic literary works needed to obtain copyrights through literary publishing houses or other authorized agencies. On Netease Cloud Reading, users could choose to read foreign works because the copyrights of these works had been authorized and could be exempted from reading on the platform. In contrast, domestic literary works had to be paid to read because the copyright fees were higher, and the publishing houses or literary institutions were unwilling to spend a lot of money to buy the copyright. Of course, not all domestic works needed to be paid to read. Some well-known literary works, such as Jin Yong, Lao She, and other classic works, had already obtained copyright authorization and could be read on the Netease cloud. However, for some smaller publishing houses or literary institutions, they may not be able to obtain authorization on the Netease Cloud Reading, so these works need to be paid to read.
